Which length 27-2 would you get if you could only have one

I have several 27's including the 5". All beauties but I lust for a 3 1/2". I have several J, K and N frame 3" guns and that's my favourite length hands down.

I have the itch for my first 27-2 most likely they will multiply since these revolvers are like potato chips. But if you could only have one length that is a pleasure to shoot which would it be?

I don’t plan on carrying it, just bringing a smile to everyone’s face when they shoot it.

What is the difference in the front sight variations I keep seeing?

Your questions pretty specific but summarized is
1) Pleasure to shoot,
A: Imo they are all a pleasure to shoot.
2) won't be carried
A) Shorter barrels carry easier but longer barrels have less recoil, longer sight radius which generally translates to better accuracy and develop higher velocities so there's that.
3) which brings a smile to the face when shooting.
A) They all do that.

Boils down to which one you like most or the one that falls into your lap first.

Other factors you might factor into your decision:
The 3.5" and 5" are the most sought after,
The older 4 and 5 screws are more collectable than newer versions but can cost more.

On a side note the 4" and 6" Model 28 shoots exactly the same as the 27 just a bit less fancy cost a bit less.

I thought I had them in all lengths now, but a cursory search this morning shows only these four in current custody...Apparently some have escaped while my attention was focused elsewhere on a trade...Time to get to work again......Ben

EDIT: There are however multiples of the shortest and longest...

I have a 25 in 4 inch, 27,28, and 629 all in 6 inch, and 57 in 4 inch. I like them all, but in my mind, I think 6 inch have the best balance.

5”.
He proportions make it the older brother of the 19-3 4”.
They pair up nicely.
That said, I have a couple of 6” and 6.5… still after a nickel 5”.
I like the 6.5” as a rule but I’d go with 5” … this “advice” from a 53 year old, one year newbie still in the honeymoon phase of the S&W obsession

I prefer the four inch 27-2 with of course the RR/WO.
