Which Remora holster for M&P Shield?

2tango2, to get the style that I got, I think you would need to talk with Remora and maybe send a link to this post for them to see the pictures.

Hope that helps, Ron

Thanks Ron, I'll drop them an email with a link to this post.

Appreciate it!

I'd really like to your pictures nickel plate!

Ron
Ron, Did you get the three photos that I sent you on 3/13 of my new Shield/Remora holster? I don't see them posted here as I requested you to do. Our computer is really acting up.

Hi nickel plate, I did not see an email from you. I am sending you a pm with my email again. I am happy to post them.

Ron

Thanks Ron, I'll try your e-mail again but this time with no verbage as I will tell you here that I will send you three photos. Photos one and two (front and back) show my updated Remora holster on the yellow packing slip. The third photo is from the Remora site, 3/13/2013 showing the old style holster which at that date was not yet updated to this version. We did just get back from our trip up to Mariposa where I carried the Remora/Shield holster around for most of the time and simply said it was a treat to wear. Jeans, shorts and sweats-all comfortable and the holster stayed in place while drawing and re-holstering every time.

Sent them an email inquiring about the new style Remora....crickets so far from them...sent it Thursday

I am not sure what is going on. I am seeing absolutely nothing nickel plate. It is a bummer as I really want to see your pictures!

Ron

I too went with a 6 ART RFT. Being left handed I had the eject issues as well. Remora sent me a replacement, no questions asked. Awesome service.

I use a 6ART RFT as my main IWB holder for the Shield, and absolutely love it 100%. Snag free draw and 1 hand blind reholstering not a problem. This is a keeper, and one of the least expensive holsters I've ever bought.

I still can't post photos here but my avatar shows the Remora 6ART-RFT ARTEMIS with my 9mm Shield.
Not only does it carry well, it also fits nice between my truck's front seats. Absolutely stays put wherever it's placed.
If you're on the fence about buying any Remora holster, their websit is running a 20% off sale to the end of this month!

Nickel,

Does your Shield have a laser? If not, based on how they mount to a Shield, do you think your Remora would still work with a laser?

I am still trying to figure out what to order.

Go to remoraholsters.com, open the online store tab and start the order process to see what they offer for your selected holster. They list various options and I believe one of them is for a laser fitted pistol. You can find that out before the actual purchase.

I returned mine about 10 days ago. In the mail today I got TWO holsters. They are apparently dedicated to making things right. Will post the models later and how they fit.

Sorry, what I meant was does anyone have a Remora ordered for a laser-equipped Shield, but has tested the holster without the laser installed? With all the 4ART vs 6ART vs custom size talk, i wondered how different a Remora holster is when ordered for a laser vs. without.

I even wondered if the "custom shield" cut included the sweat shield or not.

I'm undecided on adding a laser, and I don't want the sweat shield if it messes up the custom fit of the custom cut version.

Got two holsters from Remora today.

6 Art with sweat shield is shown here, next post will be 6 Art.

Here is the 6 Art.

I like them both very well.

Can't say enough about Remora having good customer service.

I haven't carried either of these yet, so I can't say anything about how they carry.

Very happy with how the gun fits in either holster though. I don't have an issue with the sights snagging on the 6 Art, but do like the more open design of the 6 Art with sweat shield.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this thread.

Can you please post a photo of the back side of the Remora with the sweat shield? Is it a 6ART-RFT? My concern is the sweat shield compressing down on the magazine release thus dropping the mag unintentionally.

I got my 6ART today, and feel like the Shield sits too deeply in it. I can't get good purchase on the grip. It makes for a tough draw. I think if it were ~1 inch "shallower," everything would be fine.

I've got an email in to hopefully find an alternative. I've read the 4ART works.

Nickel plate...look at the package in the photo. It shows 6 Art SS. The back side if it would just be the back of the holster. It covers the gun.

As far as which one would offer a better grip, it would be the SS model for sure.

3B RFT

Originally purchased for a Kahr MK40, pistol fits in it like it was made for it.

Finally got the computer fixed-here's what Mike at Remora recommended and sent me. BTW, no sweat shield, don't know if the sweat shield would give me an equal drawing grasp as this one does. I've been wearing CCW it around town for a few weeks and I do like it.
Seems that a lot of various Remora holster styles fit the Shield.:) There's still a couple of days left to get in on their 20% off sale...

I like the fit of the 3B with the sweat shield over the 6ART, at least it covers the whole side of the slide so it does not make contact with the body. This will keep sweat off the pistol, and it won't dig into your side.

6ART RFT...hmm....might have to order one of those too. I'm OK with how the 6 ART fits but do like the looks of the RFT better. Never had a holster without a sweat shield though, so would have to try it.

I don't understand your answer. Simply put, does the back side sweat shield come anywhere near or in contact with the magazine release? A photo would help. Thanks.

I just went ahead and ordered the 3B with the sweatshield, leather-lined, but without the RFT. I am a tad concerned about how well it covers the trigger, but we'll see how it looks. Also looks like less overall bulk than the 6ART which I find too big.

Thanks, Dino, for providing those pics....very helpful.

Nicole Plate. I checked it out. If it covers the mag release at all it covers maybe 10% at the top. I couldn't release the mag by pressing on the holster over the mag release. I don't think it would be an issue.

I agree. The confusion over which size/shape is best was turning me away. I look forward to knowing what and how to order for a Shield!

I agree about the confusion. I ordered the Remora 6ART-RFT yesterday. I mentioned all the confusion on this forum in the comments section of the order form. I told them to send me the holster that is correct for the Shield 40.

Although this thread seems (with a few notable dissenters) to be among fans of Remora holsters, since you are looking for a Remora that fits the Shield, may I suggest you take a look at Sticky Holsters? See Sticky Holsters | Redefining Concealment. Although I have never owned a Remora the Sticky Holster seems to be very similar to the Remora. I frankly have been a skeptic regarding fabric holsters, but recently bought a Sticky model MD-2 for my Shield. It fits the gun perfectly and so far I am finding its function and comfort very positive. (Full disclosure: have not had either the Shield or the holster long enough to wring either out thoroughly enough to make this an EDC rig.)
