Which type of S&W M&P15-22 to buy?

$5 spray can of FDE will fix that right up for you.

Besides, one mag? woot. If you can't buy others then you a outta luck there.....

Aervoe paint Light Tan 478 or Urban Tan 479 or Brownells Aluma-Hyde II Earth Brown

I understand you can paint them, that wasn't my point.

This thread is about the differences between the models, and no one pointed out that difference. I wanted to make sure I was correct and that was another difference.

The other point was about the rumor that S&W was going to start selling the FDE mags at some point in the future, just not yet.

Ah, I see where you are comming from. I did not catch that as part of the parts. Thanks.

I was just saying the black mags can be made an acceptable FDE colour to match. Something you'll need to do with your spares anyway. (for now?!) Who knows how available they will be.....

I like the A1 version the best. The dark earth version looks silly to me. To each his own.

Kayback, have you used either of the FDE paints? Curious about color match and durability.

Thanks.

No thats just the word on the web. I have used Rustoleum Sand colour, but I was not not matching it to anything. Durability was good with touch ups needed every couple on months. But that was a steel 1911 slide and frame, so holster wear and the like. No wear from shooting or handling.

After a couple of hundred rounds but only a few presentations. Total carry time measured in minutes, to range and back.Dont have newer pics.

Used Rustoleum only because it was available when I went shopping not because I prefer it.

c jit used Krylon Fusion (Color: Khaki) to match his FDE furniture. It looks like a good match.

Well, it took a while but i finally got my MP15-22! Can't wait to shoot with it!

Glad you got it, might as well go on & get some more mags & plenty of ammo & have some fun

My only regret in getting the compliant version, in which I had no choice because of where I live, is that I could not get a reciever with the QD integrated. All other differences can be swapped out down the road. MOE furniture can be purchased, the barrel can be threaded, but one cannot mold in a QD. Someone has a thread showing how they tapped in an aftermarket QD which I might do as well at some point.

that was my thinking too, the no flash hider dosent bother me but the wobble of the stock is what bugged me. QD would be nice but things can always get added on when need be. i cant complain, i only paid $370 for mine.

The way ive learned to shop for a gun is if i catch myself thinking about putting this orthat on it after i buy it or swapping sth out and i can buy it already attached ill just do it that way

The advantage to buying the entry level versions of the 15-22 (especially if that is all you can find!), is that you can add exactly the accessories you want.

I put a Magpul CTR buttstock on my AR15 (an upgrade model over the base MOE), but when I replaced the buttstock on my 15-22, I got the STR. I liked its bigger cheek weld.

I bought my 15-22 when they first came out, and have the unthreaded barrel model. I decided not to thread the barrel, rather, I added the MFI barrel shroud for a different look that the standard AR-15 look.

Let's just hope the craziness blows over eventually, so that we all have the freedom to buy the firearms we want, and to accessorize them as we want.

New here. Just bought my 1st one. Walked in to my local Walmart and the salesman who I know said they had just got one in. Price was $447.00 + tax. Can't wait to get it cleaned up and get it out and shoot it.
