Who here has a fast car?

Fastest car was a 1969 Plymouth Satellite 4 door sedan with a pro-stock Henson-prepared 426 c.i. Hemi and a calibrated Dodge Charger 160 mph speedo and suspension that wouldn’t have been out of place at Talledega. It did 650 hp on the dyno.

My work car is a 2017 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor and it’s quick.

My personal car is a 2.0 liter 2015 Jeep Patriot with a CVT that gets 30 mpg on the highway. I got nothing to prove.

these days the only things that are fast in my life
* wife and daughters reminding me about payday on the 15Th & 30Th
* my judgement when I see others acting inappropriately
* my travel to the men's room after a strong cup of coffee

My Jaguar F-Pace S is not sports car fast, 380 HP and 0-60 in 5.1 But not bad for a practical all wheel drive SUV

...I have a long time project car that was fairly fast last time I drove it...

...283 fuelie short block...

...later 2.02 1.60 slant plug heads...

...Edelbrock Tarantula manifold...Holley 650 double pumper carb...

...dual point ignition...Hooker headers...

...Webber clutch in a Lakewood scattershield...

...Muncie 4 speed...Hurst shifter...

...4.88 positraction rear end...

...I bought it with no engine...and the transmission in the trunk for $750 dollars in 1973...

Is that a Suzuki Samari to the right?

...yes...we have two of them...

...we had just rebuilt that one from the ground up...my wife drove it to work and some idiot left his one ton pickup loaded with construction tools unattended with the parking brake off...

...it rolled across the parking lot and crushed our Samurai...the right side is destroyed...totaled...insurance gave us $1500 dollars...we probably had at least 4 times that much in it...

...we were about to take it on vacation...ended up disassembling both Samurais to make one decent one...that silver gray one is still around for parts...

...below is the remaining one...we are currently using it everyday...

...it has made 10 round trips to the west coast since we bought it new in 1987...has 340,000 plus miles on it...

'56 OR '57 Corvette? I think they were the only ones with scoops on top of the front fenders. The style was a dramatic change from the '54 "Corvair" look. When I had my '65 a guy down the street saw my car and came over to offer me a deal on his . He had a non street legal 1/4" mile '56 Corvette. Rear wheel wheels cut out with slicks fitted and the windshield was gone and replaced with a 1/2 aircraft bubble. No hood, just a 327 with 8 fuel injector tubes sticking up. It was on a trailer and I could have had the whole mess for $650. I had to pass because I was broke.

My 1971 Ferrari is not designed for drag racing, but if you want to take me at a track like Laguna Seca, then let's see what happens. A few words of caution; Turn 2 is a down hill decreasing radius turn. Take it easy or you'll go off the track. Tip-toe down the corkscrew or you'll fall over. If you start the apex too soon at Turn 11, you'll hit the wall.

Ok, you need to tell more, maybe even a couple of pics. 1971 would be a 365 GTB 4, or 365 GTC 4, or the very first 365 GT 4 BB or 365 GT 4 2+2 ?

Or a Dino, or a race car [emoji964].

This one is NOT mine...

...but guarantee it will outrun ANY of ours posted herein. And that means in a straight line, on the track, autocross, top end...you name it...and bring your title if you doubt me. :p

Corvette ZR-1. New version hits the streets not too long ago. This bad boy was spied ‘in the wild’ at a strip mall in my ‘hood. Bug splattered front end, dirty, DRIVEN. :)

But betcha he/she didn’t drive it far. It was rocking Mickey Thompson slicks on the rear. That bad boy would have been a handful on the road...any road...nannies, or not.

Be safe.

When I rode this 113 incher I couldn't make it go slow. If it'll go fast I'm gonna go fast with it.

It took me gettin' skinned to come to that realization.

So I let the insurance total it and got me the slowest Vette GM had made to date. I'm not complaining.

Years ago I had a '57. Bought it in 1965 for $900, had an oil burning stock 283 and a 3 speed. Had 2 racing friends build up an engine from scrounged parts. 265 block, bored to 301, fuelie cam, 12.5 to 1 pistons, big 4 barrell and t-10 borg warner 4 speed, not sure what the rear end was. Couldn't keep it goin in a straight line when I'd get on it, solution, added heavy duty coil springs in the rear. Then it would squat down and take off. No idea of top speed, speedometer never worked. But was the fastest car around for midnight blacktop racing. Beat every newer Vette around.
But I blew it up.
Then hubby put another engine in it and tried to climb a light pole with it. Good reason for him to be an Ex.

Fast is a relative term, kind of depends on what and where the race is. Car that wins the 1/4 mile chances will not take turns like a Mini Cooper. Mini Cooper isn't known for off roading.

But they are danged good for Autocross, have 2 trophies with my totally stock 2009 Mini Cooper S and will be trying for a 3rd on Saturday.

...'57....

I see someone else posted an even slower corvette than mine! I used to build fast cars, in a amateurish manner just for the thrill of it. I stuck to Pontiacs, mostly Firebird/Trans Am.

My current "fast car" is a 1981 Corvette. It's the first model that came with a computer. Of course, the computer is disconnected and and the parts it used to control have been replaced - all by the previous owner. It has some nice take-off, but quickly runs out of breath. Very quickly. I can scare someone off the jump, but any decent modern 6 cylinder will leave me in the dust.

Factory rated at 180hp and 280 lb/ft of torque.

Still, I love it.

Look on the bright side, you and 75vette never have to worry about anybody wanting to steal you're rides. Lol!
