I own and often carry a Model 10-7 nickeled 2" and it carries 6 rounds. I've never felt under gunned.

Dont get me wrong there is many other very good carry options besides the small frame revolver so I would like to here some of the other options out there that work for you.
I am an 80 year old ol'fart, and recently became aware of my dilemma ---- I can no longer cock my automatics! I don't have the strength to cock the slide, so I switched back to a revolver.
My choice --- I bought a S&W Governor! I like the ability of the
.45 caliber to do the job first time.
However an issue came up last week at practice. I loaded two of the .45ACP clips side by side. After firing, they jammed when I went to unload! Took some severe prying with a screwdriver to get them out. Won't load the 2-round clips next to each other again. Need an answer from the Company why this happened....

Semper Fi and belated happy birthday. I carry the same gun and recently upgraded to the new CT LG350. They absorb the recoil so much better, which my old arthritic hands appreciate.

As far as only having 5 shots. For several years I have followed the "Armed Citizen" stories in the NRA publications as well as those "True Stories" in "Concealed Carry Magazine" When actual shots were required most time it was with one shot and seldom more than 2. I normally carry a speed strip for a possible reload but if I need to go into a bad area, which I try to avoid I either carry my S&W Mod 36 or my 11 shot P11.

Became a 2 gun pistolero from the 80's. Snub 442, always around, even doing yardwork.(

Yes we have rural robberies, shooting, armed home invasions, trespassers a plenty right now! Deer hunters without permission, all hours of day/ night. Even posted signage doesn't stop them. Conservation Cops do their best, even Deputy Sheriff's help.

So, get one. Or even two. Nice to have in a pocket, or a holster.

Also tote around a G19 or 21. Wifey carries my Retired Service Revolver, if she runs the truck or tractor around.

As a grandpa (and great grandpa) I try to avoid obviously suspect locales. That being said, you never know when trouble will go out of its' way to find you. I feel comfortable with my choice of the pictured 337 loaded with Win. 95 gr. Silvertips (L.E.) and a speed strip about 80% of the time. The remaining 20% calls for a Ruger LC9S Pro for its' extra flatness. Oh yes, there will always be a 3914 or SIG P220 SAS riding wedged between the console and passenger seat. Great thread!
Jim

Guess site is not going to let me post pics...sorry!

Ya know what's really passe and obsolete? Knives.
Knives are so obsolete and useless.
And, I carry a couple of those, too.

I own, use, and carry both autos and revolvers.
Which do I prefer? Depends.

OK, here we go...guess my security software needed to be disabled (like most of the "safety/inconvenience" features on my lawn tractor!) S&W 337 and IWB holster.

Knives seem to have a certain "fear factor" built in...some folks fear getting cut/stabbed more than getting shot, I think.
Jim

I suppose so. I just carry a knife for use as a cutting tool, and for a last ditch option.

What I'd love to have is a pre-lock, pre-magnum, pre-MIM 640.

speed loaders

About 5 or so years ago we had a guy tried for attempted murder here....for self defense. He was found not guilty and rightly so. He was attacked by several young adults. He shot one 5 times from a snub nose 38. Guy lived and wasn't all that concerned with the 5 hoes in his chest. Problem was the guy being assaulted was out of ammo and the other guys had surrounded him and didn't care. Luckily this is a busy part of town and cops were not far away.

My gimmicky semi auto with 16 rounds conceals better than a snubby, has actual sights, better grip....an actual grip...faster reloads if that's really needed, shorter reach and lighter trigger. On top of that I've never had a "most every day experience". Every day is different. Some days I'm in the office, some days I'm driving through the ghetto, other days I'm not even at work.

Although not from personal experience, I think speed loaders solve that problem quite nicely.

Snub School

1992 mfg. 640 with a 940 cylinder. 5 rounds, 1 hole, 7 yards with vintage Cor-Bon 9mm +P. What else could one need?

Seems like a 2inch barreled 5 shooter will always be a part of my carry rotation ... Now that its getting jacket weather , my snubbies are carried more .. Just about the perfect jacket / coat pocket carry ..
And jacket weather often allows me to switch from a J-frame to my M66-2, 2-1/2", which has an extra round (and is more comfortable to practice with).
