At last count I have 6 snubs, 5 .38 and 1 .357. FWIW my personal definition of snub is 2 1/2 barrel or shorter, I would have one more a 3'' 547 9mm. (to me that sort of almost fits snub)

I carried a M60 back in the 70s and early 80s but have tried out a bunch of other guns.

As of now my local carry is a Bodyguard .380 but have bought a Ruger LCR .38 +P and rather like it. Trigger pull is great and does not appear to need any work by me and of course it does not have that lock nonsense on it. Been shooting it a bit and that just might replace the .380. It conceal fits in my pocket well with a holster. I also have a old Bianchi ITWB leather sack type holster from the 70s which will be reactivated for some occasions.

PS yes I'm a grandfather and bought my first revolver in 1972:D

Thats awesome! Revolver love is the best love! I hate to disappoint you on your Ruger LCR but I think it does have an internal lock and key. If it does have it the lock will be in the grip frame under the grips and it locks the hammer mainspring.

Read your post and went downstairs and checked things out.

It does have a lock, a cable lock. that one I knew about when I bought the gun:D

I did not pull the grips but I went threw the manual and it says that's the only lock that it came with. No key anywhere in the box.

I also read the manual when I bought the gun and I think I would have see it then .

I've had Colt, Ruger, Glock & Browning semi-autos. My favorite carry, however, is a S&W 638. Reliability is the main reason I prefer it to semis.

Multiple assailants and he puts all five into one guy? He didn't think that through.

Plus he needs to work on some Mozambique drills. ;)
Actually it was the only guy that rushed him.

Those drills are great if your in a movie. But in reality when someone is 5ft away and charges you......

The S&W snubbies with the hammer shroud is probably my very favorite line on S&W guns. When I saw a new model 638 for $350 dollars out the door I jumped on it. The DA/SA trigger pull on that gun is very good! Cheers!:D

my lovely wife has carried a J of some sort since 1989ish. on off days around home and beach, my 442-1 still seems to find my pocket more than anything else. i do have a 640 pro that i love, just a bit heavy for walks on the beach with wife and kids. still miss my 65-3 i sold, and am always looking for a deal on another 442-1... just saying!

You might have to pull the grip off to know for sure.

The one pound weight of my 360PD AirLite makes it my always carry weapon. For backup my 4040PD AirLite fills that bill adequately.

This would be a perfect revolver to fit the bill for just about anyone. The only thing is I wish S&W would bring back the shiny snubbies back. They are all in this matte nickel and its cool but I liked the shiny chrome more! Ruger has a lot of shiny guns to buy why not S&W???

The simple fact is, the modern double action revolver is doing exactly what it has always done for the last 117 years (based on the truly modern 1899 S&W DA .38), and that's be a very reliable, very portable, very useful, very ergonomic, very well designed, very easy to use, efficient problem solver.

I just went and pulled the grips, my inside does not look like that picture. It does not have that key aparture spot below the spring nor a key. You show a .357, mine is a .38+P possibly that is the answer. Nor is any lock like that showed in my manual. FWIW I bought my gun about 3 months ago!

Thank you, as long as the grips were off I did a gentle lube:)

When a statement starts with "Not trying to be preachy" or "I don't want to make you mad," or "I know this is none of my business," I know that the next statement most likely will be preachy or make me mad, and is definitely none of their business . . .

Kinda like seeing a for sale ad that has the word "rare" in the title. I know it's going to be over priced.

This is an interesting point that I never thought about. If your attacker grabs any part of your auto pistol it will more than likely fail to fire/load the next round. This would be a highly likely thing in close encounters of the bad kind. 9 out of 10 civilian robberies/ assaults will be up close and personal. The likelihood that an attacker would stop the function of a revolver is very minimal and also you can press the barrel of the revolver to the body of an attacker and it will not fail to fire but an auto pistol will. Also another good point of the small frame revolver is that they can be easily fired in the coat pocket but I wouldnt try that with a small auto pistol. I guess what I am trying to say is the revolver is way more forgiving than anything else. The many good points outway the bad points of the small frame revolver so that why I think it reigns supreme for civilian carry.

Actually a semi-auto will still fire the first round in the chamber if the slide is grabbed but will not fire the next, chances are the bad guy will reflexively let go from being shot. At least īn theory.

Seems like a 2inch barreled 5 shooter will always be a part of my carry rotation ... Now that its getting jacket weather , my snubbies are carried more .. Just about the perfect jacket / coat pocket carry ..

There's basically 2 types of guns, the ones I like and the ones others like.

Yes,sometimes we can agree.

If it doesn't have an exposed hammer with a spur I won't have it on my list.

Even my one piece of tupperware,a Ruger SR22,has a nice exposed hammer.

My youngest revolver is one I bought yesterday;it's a 2 1/2" 686-4 has a hammer,no lock and no MIM parts. My other revovers are 1989 and older.

My semi autos are Smith 1st and 2nd generation with hammers.

No hammer makes the weapon look unfinished.

Bobbing is disgusting.

Plastic makes it look like it's made by Mattel

The lock....I'm not getting into that rant again.

Would really like to carry my 3" J frame but my Shield is so much easier to carry. I actually shoot the .357 better, maybe I need to find the proper holster.
