Why Do Members Conceal Their Locations??

I have been curious why many members conceal what state they live in?? It is always interesting reading about local gun shops, local sales, gun buying experiences, but many members do not put their state location in their profile. I often read about how gun prices are either higher or lower in parts of the country, but have no idea where these people are from in the first place.

Just curious . . . . .

some people just seem generally paranoid and think it somehow jeopardizes their privacy....

But even if we moved south and had children there, they will never be accepted as southerners. I think the quote is from the later southern humorist, Louis Grizzard: "Just cause a cat climbs in the oven and has kittens, doesn't make em biscuits!" or something along those lines.

Mostly to keep the black helicopters away. Those things really foul up a nice barbeque party.

They aren't helicopters anymore. They are small silent drones that hover over your house at night. They started the night ops because to many were being blown to pieces at BBQ parties in Texas. My dog told me they were there.

Well when I signed up here they asked so I told them. Seriously I never worried about giving my location very much. It's my mailing address but I don't live in town anyway. I figure any thieves looking for gun owner's addresses are going after bigger and better collections than mine anyway.
It has proven useful before as I've received PMs from some that know the area and have questions about a post I may have made. I get questions about Williams Gun Sight for instance as they're located in Davison.
Maybe I should have put down what part of Michigan I'm from instead.

I was in New York, Then I went to Georgia.
Made a left turn and was in North Carolina. Then, I turned right and wound up in Georgia again.
So I then turned slightly N/E and wound up in South Carolina. NOW, I'm in F.E.M.A region IV.
