Why join? - A curiosity.

Understood, but understand that it's a tightly run ship here for reasons that should be obvious if you spend any time elsewhere.
Yes, it may feel constraining at times but in time, it actually gets you talking as it used to be in civil society.
I know, I know, that's old school and not how it's done anymore.
That's the point. It actually steers a person towards the subject at hand without distractions.
Basically, it just keeps things civil, and family friendly. That's the way the owner wants it and the way we've come to like it.
Do we get censored and dinged? Yes, we do. But, we keep learning and coming back like lemmings.
It's worth it. You will find that the answer to your guide rod CRUD is here, along with much more.
It's a great site and I encourage you to hang in there and see for yourself.
Thanks for your service Sailor
BTW, I didn't know the Coasties had a "Tank Legacy"??

Well, I joined 7 years ago. Looking for that famous definition of a "38 S & W Special CTG". After 7 years, I have obtained a world of information on the famous 38 S & W Special on both how to make hand loads and all the different models that have been produce for 150 years under the S & W label. Somehow I am still here, searching for the hidden meaning of CTG after all these years. Why has this been written on the side of so many firearms? Are the people "up east" trying to tell us something? So many unanswered questions. I will continue to lurk here in the search for the true meaning of "CTG" that appears on so many of these firearms I see and inspect at LGS, gun shows, pawn shops, etc. I thing it means "Ca-not get sufficient" number of these guns, but that is just a crazy theory I have developed after lurking here for the past seven years. Who knows why I joined? What is the true meaning of CTG written on the side of so many of these beautiful guns?

as for info/ learning curve, 1 of the best forums I belong to. good people and info. and I learn something new every time I long on. everyone have a good week.

...did you know that you cannot close your account?...once you join here you are here for the duration...I assume it keeps the membership numbers high for advertising purposes...you can abandon your account if you want...or you can be banned...but your account will live on...I know of one member that has been permanently banned...and his account lives on...he just can't use it...

"You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave!"

#1 reason why people join, and it appears they never post after the first few times....

Language....you think you are on a gun forum (full of adult male and female), yet you cant even say the nice version of "dog poo"....I dont even mean the word that starts with "S"....Im talking about the one that starts with "C" and ends in "p".

....that is why I may not stay long...this site has a Communist "feel" to it.

The admin HAVE to run a tight ship--or it would sink into slime. That doesnt have anything to do with anything "communistic." Ive been in trouble here at times-nothing bad on their part about it. Take any lumps as a learning tool-to not keep repeating them. The admin-have their hands full with me because--I have a rye sense of humor and oft times I dont realise I made a mistake until pointed out.

I joined to get some occasional(visit infrequently) knowledge on revolvers I like.
I don't contribute with posting because I don't want to visit the site too long, I would rather be loading, dry firing, shooting, handgun hunting, or checkering wood grips.

There are a small number of people who have the discipline to keep their mouths shut until they actually have something meaningful to say.

Unfortunately, they are outnumbered by those who run their mouths continuously simply because they can.

Both types are well represented on the forum.

Two forums I belong to have actually disabled post counts on their "Lounge" sections. Discourages people who seem to think post count is some indicater of status.

Hasn't stopped some... ;)

well, i rum my mouth off continuously, but it's not a matter of discipline.
i'm just visiting friends....

I am here just waiting for the next seasons of Longmire and Twin Peaks to start, am I in the wrong line again? Think that's how I ended up with my military occupational specialty of Forward Observer, I have to be more careful where I wait :(

I have been a part of this fine institution well before the Gorilla Man took over and I can tell you this was a wild and woolly place then and even then I got spanked quite often. I pretty much mind my manners here and word my responses VERY carefully. :)

It's all too clear that I fall in the mass quantity versus dubious quality category, at best.

My only defense is that I'm decrepit and don't get out much, I spend a lot of time online every day, and I enjoy good company.

Still should probably apply the brakes, if I can rouse the discipline referred to at post 9. Or start a blog.
