Why the Sigma section is the "Dark Side"

Ok.
I did a re-polish on all the internals the other day. I found I was still getting some rubbing and things were getting back to gritty again. So I put a slight chamfer on the inside of the pin holes of the sear bracket and on the slot of the sear. Mirror polished everything again got it all back together. Still a bit of grit. Took it all back apart and found the link bar from the trigger to the sear was rubbing the sear bracket. Bent it out just a bit where the bar rides even between the frame and sear bracket. Now it's smooth as glass just a slight bit of friction between the sear and plastic cam.

I bought Sigma SW9VE last February when I was looking for an inexpensive 9mm handgun (my only other 9mm is a Luger). I had hoped to find a used Glock 19 but instead bought a brand new Sigma. Since then I have shot hundreds of factory fmj rounds through it without a single misfire. And since I generally reload most of what I shoot I gave also shot close to a thousand cast bullet loads through my Sigma. My standard load is 3 grains of Bullseye underneath a Lee 150 grain SWC cast from wheel weights. I get no leading whatsoever and accuracy that compares with factory fmj. The accuracy in my Sigma is comparable to my 38 Special revolvers at the same distance or my friend's Glock 19 shooting fmj ammo. This Sigma is (was?) a great gun at a terrific price. They are reliable, sturdy and for those who know how to shoot them accurate guns. I also like the fact that it is American made and has a lifetime warranty.

If you are going to buy anything more then $100 spend some time on the net. An hrs worth of research will let you know everything you want to know about what ever it is. Some people are just plain idiots and see something that is priced low in a gun shop and buy it with out knowing anything about it.... I just cant understand people like that.
Granted the fun part comes from trying to balance the people who say
"ive been shooting it for 1,000 years and a few billion rounds and never had any problems"

Not sure I would trust that one...
I joke but I do know what you are saying. Sigma reviews are all over the place.
Well, those that don't know can come in here and bash all they want, after over 2,000 rounds through my Sigma with no issues, (an occasional failure to lock back, think I fixed that though), doubt my mind will be changed. I'll just drop it into my Milt Sparks, the mag full of Ranger 'T's and go on my way!
Personally, I don't understand any of the Sigma bashing, not for the life of me.
I have quite a extensive backround in both Mechanical Engineering and as a Machinist, and yes I just purchased a pre-owned Sigma.
I am by no means a gun expert what so ever, in fact some of the members here forgot more about handguns than I'll ever know.
I believe there is a HUGE case of Gun Snobery when it comes to the Sigma, sorry if the truth hurts someone. If Glock started selling a entry level priced pistol for say under $300, the EXACT SAME THING would happen. Talk to 10 or 100,010 people and half would say what a great pistol that never fails and I bet my life on it!! The other half would say it's the worse thing ever made, and Glock should be disgraced.
I believe whole heartedly, the MAJORITY of all problems with some Sigmas, are caused entirely by the brain surgeons who modified theirs and shouldn't have!!
Bottom line here is I trust mine, it's my new night stand pistol. Because you know why....................................................................... GOD forbid I have to use it to protect myself in the middle of the night.........................................why would I want to lose my new Beretta or my P.C. Smith & Wesson, or my Kimber or my FNH.............................. you know offiecer, here take my Sigma, as I know I probably won't get it back. It saved my life, my home, and now it's............................EVIDENCE!

Some people did had problems with the Sigmas but to blame it on the whole lot doesn't cut it. Every manufacturers are gonna have some lemons from high volume productions, that cannot be avoided and reason why you have a warranty.
My Sigma 9mm is a keeper.

After 4 years of Sigma carry I went to a Glock G30. Not that I didn't like the Sigma but the G30 is a little smaller and weighs the same with 10+1 .45ACP. Also has the option of 13+1 with a G21 mag. The Sigma's are fine weapons and the bashers, for the most part have never fired one.

The Sigma I have .40 has 3000 rounds and NO Glitches of ANY kind -SO FAR. I added Crimson trace to it and if I were on the way to a gunfight/shootout i would carry 2-3 of these with out hesitation.
the thing with the Sigma is it can't possibly be a good gun because it costs less than a Glock. SO many people think. This is a self defense weapon not an ego enhancer. Plus I DON"T like Glocks.
Once i worked part time in a 7-11 store. The boss decided to move out some cookies and replace that space with something else.
At that time(long ago) the average cost retail for a large package of cookies was 1.59 (long time ago) the size of the oreos. The boss said I'll sell every one of theses 20 packages today we are gone to sell them for 50 cents a pack. (LONG TIME AGO)..
i told him you won't sell any. He laughed..
For 6 hours people came in and looked at the cookies on the checkout area,at 50 cents a pack and said nothing although looking at them all the time.
Finally a guy came in looked at the cookies poked at the package and asked what's wrong with those cookies, why so cheap. i said nothing wrong. he said humphhhh and left.
Told the boss we mark'em up to 99 cents with savings of 59 cents and we see what happens .
We SOLD THEM ALL..
It seems that people feel if you don't pay a huge amount for something it can't be all that good.. they equate the price with the quality.
If a weapon functions like it should every time it should what difference is the price?? Answer none. I've seen 1911 Kimbers malfunction and the owners STILL swear they are the best,

Thanks HS, for the positive feedback/hope on getting it back. I look at it another way, the Attorney I used for my divorce gets $350 an hour. At that rate my Sigma can stay in evidence and I'll replace it as I paid much less than a simple consultation with my Attorney for it.
Yes, I too know that the Sigma had some earlier issues with the first ones, thanks again and mine is keeper as well.
On a lighter note, my male Bulldog can and has cracked open a coconut from our backyard, if he's gonna start chewing on pistols, heaven forbid I'd rather have him chew the Sigma than one of my others

Sigmas were made to compete with the glocks, the only wrong turn S&W took was they made the trigger too heavy. I have no problems with the trigger on my SW9VE, i actually like it. Other than the long trigger its a pistol that works well and shoots when you pull the trigger....humm kinda like the glock.....pretty to look at?...no....will it shoot wehn u pull that trigger? YES. Who needs a pretty pistol to save their lifes? nobody you just need it to work. Several thousands of rounds through mine and not one problem.

I have owned a Sigma 9VE for 6 years now and its has been super reliable from day one with all brands of factory ammo and several thousands of rounds of my reloads. Love the low cost factor of this pistol, got used to the trigger and can hit where I aim it. What else can one ask for? It is what it is and it works.
Nevertheless, I don't see any reason for them to keep it unless it was used in a commission of a crime. In the case of SD you'll get it back.

DUUDE !!! If he must chew on one get him a Hi-Point. They're indestructible.

"It's clunky, ugly, a brick, etc." My reply was always. "Have you shot one?"
"Well, no." Sadly we live in a society where if something is affordable, it must not be good.
I have only gotten to take out the .40 my buddy owns a few times, but if it shoots straight and doesn't misfire or fail to feed, I stand by it.
While I would prefer my revolvers to most semi autos I would recommend the sigma to anyone who wanted something not too expensive but got the job done.

I have owned my Sigma for about 2 years now, bought it used from a friend for $150.00. Got the case, 3 mags, and 100 rounds of ammo for that price! I carry it every day, have put at least 2000 rounds through it, most of them my reloads with no problems at all. I trust my life on it. It hits where I aim and goes bang every time! I will own more of them!

I see lots of positive feedback that's good. I went to shoot this weekend after doing more trigger work. It's still flawless! I believe it's true those that knock it haven't tried it. I for one didn't like the trigger in box stock form, but now with the trigger job I've done on mine it's a keeper. Most would say why buy a gun that you have to work on right out of the box? Well you don't HAVE to work on it leave it alone. For me I like working on my guns it's nothing but time to me.
For me my Sigma is my carry, night stand, and truck gun. Unlike others I trust my life with it, I have no reason not to. I do have other handguns I don't carry. They have reliability issues that I have to work out before they are carry pieces.

IMO, if the firearm is practical accurate & reliable it's good to go. Everything beyond that is gravy. There's a S&W days at my local LGS soon. I'm hoping there will be a deal on a SD40VE.
