Hay it is party time........
lets get out and play, drink and rub elbows and leave the masks at home !!

I can't believe what is going on.

More lives that will be wasted and family's torn apart with grief.

From young healthy teens and 20 year olds to grand parents dying next to one another in the same hospital room!!

Educated, we are not..........

The news needs to put a end to this madness.

...and this is why our governor is requesting mask usage in public places starting Friday. Breaking with tradition I actually watched today's pronouncements. I agreed with everything he said, including putting the blame for the increased percentage infection rate firmly where it belongs, with the population.

His brief talk about the state budget for the next two years was sobering, too.

More immediately, how much of the Lone Pine earthquake did you feel, Ed.

I've heard about, studied, and learned so much about the virus in the last 4 or 5 months I feel like I should have earned some type of certificate or diploma, but what have we learned? I'm now hearing masks may not do much good since the virus enters the eyes, and what about HVAC systems in buildings where the return air creates an upward draft and then distributes it around the building that pretty much negates social distancing and the 6 ft rule. I've gone through several bottles of hand sanitizer and alcohol in spray bottles constantly spraying anything I might touch but now the experts say the virus may not even transmitted much by surface contact touching. More businesses are filing bankruptcy everyday and it's about to have a snowball effect if we have a second round of closures, oh well, life is interesting.

....but what have we learned?
Hopefully we learn for the next time, to do what has proven successful this time. The measures instituted by the Kiwi's of New Zealand resulted in them not having a single locally transmitted case of Covid-19 in one month and two days.

This forum has reflected the
split in thinking that exists
across the nation.

Some here have declared that
they haven't worn masks and
don't intend to, ever. Others
believe that "herd immunity" is
needed and people across the
nation should mingle despite
the risks of death.

Then others here have been proponents
for wearing the masks and trying
to follow whatever the epidemiologists
have advised, knowing that the
knowledge about the virus is still
developing.

The Europeans learned quicker and now have far lower infection and death rates and raw numbers. I see they are considering not allowing US travelers into the EU because our infection rates aren't under control and they don't want to restart their die-off.

The Graphic Truth: Two different pandemics - EU vs US

June 24, 2020

Ari Winkleman

The United States and the European Union have comparable population sizes, but the trajectories of their COVID-19 outbreaks have been vastly different. New data released by the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention shows that while there are around 3,000 new COVID cases in the EU each day, the United States is now recording almost 30,000 new cases of the virus each day – ten times higher than Europe. At least 23 US states have reported significant upticks in new daily COVID-19 cases in recent days, raising fears of an approaching "second wave" of infection. And while some politicians in the US have ascribed the difference to discrepancies in testing, a close analysis shows that the United States and the EU are conducting roughly the same number of tests per million people. Here's a look at the seven-day rolling average of new COVID cases in the EU and the US since March. The Graphic Truth: Two different pandemics - EU vs US - GZERO Media

We will never see the entire population of this Country wearing a mask. Therefore it falls upon the individual to make the choice that best serves themselves.

I'm tired of people saying they wear a mask to protect those around them. I can take care of myself. What I do fear is someone who is infected not wearing a mask for the deliberate intention of infecting others.

Your Life...Your choice. My Life...My choice. I will neither argue or even reply to those who want to be argumentative. That's what the Ignore List is for.

As noted in another post...

...I flew to a Tampa today for our annual baseball trip. :)

My transport to IAD was by my friend who is still the sole beervirus affected person I know. He is a nurse working the COVID-19 unit at a local facility who tested positive about a month ago. He quarantined for 14 days...rightfully so as HE was the one who tested positive. He had ZERO negative physical symptoms even though he had the Shanghai Shivers. NONE...just like many of the others who test positive.

(No worries that baseball is not being played; we shall account for that time somehow.)

I wore a mask at IAD, aboard the airplane, and indoors once here. A mask was not required at the beach bar I visited upon arrival.

If YOU are afraid of the beervirus, YOU stay home or do whatever it is YOU want to do.

Do not put your demands on others. Please think about others...not just your teeny, tiny piece of the universe. Remember, there are more than 30 MILLION Americans still unemployed due to poor decisions. Fauci noted YESTERDAY three (3!) more weeks. That should tell you doomers something. Yet you don't want to listen.

Believe me, there will not be another shutdown tolerated by Americans.

Be safe...be well.

It's just the common cold, used to manufacture fear. Why should we listen to Fauci?

And look at states governed by Responsible Republicans, such as Texas and Florida. They have very little coronavirus.

Two more huge CLOSINGS just announced...

...today in the DC metropolitan area.

The MARRIOTT Wardman Park Hotel will soon close...likely forever...after being shuttered since March. Another 500 jobs lost.
It was the second largest hotel in DC and an important venue for meetings, conferences, etc.

Clydes of Columbia, a restaurant and concert venue, is closing permanently as losses sustained are irreversible. The restaurant has been open for forty-five (45!) years and was usually packed.

Awful news...

Be safe...be well.

I watched an interview on the noon news yesterday with two young women sitting at an outdoor restaurant in Florida...both stated defiantly that they will NOT wear masks....

When I hear stuff like that, it strikes me that people like this are basically raising a big middle finger to the rest of society... :(

I am as careful as is possible but so much conflicting information out there that the various experts put out ! Have only known 4 people who have had it and they all had mild cases, 80+ to 55 years old . Guess I don't really trust the media, politics may be our biggest problem with the virus.

I am as careful as is possible but so much conflicting information out there that the various experts put out.

The "various experts," if you mean the
epidemiologists or the medical community
in general, have been quite consistent
in their advice.

It's to wear masks, keep social distancing,
keep hands away from face and wash hands
thoroughly during or after contact with
the general public such as going to grocery
stores.

We don't have "experts" people. So much information conflicts and makes zero sense. Even the CDC is going backwards on "facts" they stated earlier. Unfortunately, there is also a political tie to this which makes things worse. This whole wearing a mask and protective gear is also horrible. Think of it... Nobody has been properly trained on using safety gear. They are more contaminated with it than without it. Another issue to my friends here on the forums, CCW could be at further risk because we are not allowed to wear a mask if carrying. How ridiculous is this getting?

We've rediscovered the childhood party game "telephone"
Make something up, whisper it to the next person, pass it in through the room and see how whacked it gets by the end.
CDC says something World Health says something else. Whatever we get out of Fauci seems to coincide with which of his multiple personalities wakes up first.
For this bombardment, we ignore our own observations.
Apartment complexes with central HVAC systems should have been like death camps. Air from one apartment routes to central, and gets distributed to every other apartment. Yet, this has not been the case.
But lets go ahead and ignore these kinds of things and latch on to the mindless fear mongering of the media.
What's the truth ... we probably heard a few fragments, dispersed through the raw tonnage of drama.

"What should we have learned?" I feel is a better question.
One of those things should have been learned is the results of a 3" magnum 12 Ga goose load upon a TV. The media has contributed more mental illness than it has physical wellness.

I did notice when the omnipotent Fauci took his mask off the other day before testifying to Congress, he balled his mask up in his hands with his hands all over the outside of the mask.
Yes, I watch those things.

Someone needs to teach him proper mask handling.

This issue has been sliced and diced dozens of times, usually by the same alarmists.

To be sure, conflicting information
has been issued by the medical
researchers/epidemiologists. But
the advice given is the best known
at a certain point in time.

What the naysayers seem to want
is a neat, all-encompassing set of
rules, once issued and never changed.

What does seem true is where the known
regulations have been eased or done away
with, spikes in the virus have consistently
occurred after the "incubation" period of
two or less weeks.
