Will we ever learn about this Virus !?

...in my neck of the woods.

Metro population close to a million...14 patients on vents. Total. That's a four fold DECREASE since mid-April and overall we have the LOWEST number of Shanghai Shivers patients since early April.

Of course, presuming I don't drop dead here on Clearwater Beach due to the Flu Manchu, I will be dragging the Sweet and Sour Sicken home with me next Monday thus making those numbers waaaaaaaaay bigger.

Be safe...be well.

I hope your not the to one bring it home and change the numbers. That'd kinda suck. ;):D:D:D

I think people are just over it. My area is opening back up - restaurants are back in business and mask usage is about 10% in public outdoors and 50% in stores, even those with "please wear a mask" signs.

Hospitals aren't full and there are no mass graves to be seen. Both of my retirement jobs are starting back up.

We bought into flattening the curve, now it seems like most people want to just power through whatever is next. Phobics can continue to shelter in place.

A buddy's wife needed minor surgery for an abscessed dog bite near Houston and had to do it outpatient at a clinic as Houston-area hospitals aren't taking those cases today.

Must be the common cold.

OK...I cant leave this one alone. My wife just returned from a wake, 53 year old woman died of Lou Gehrig's Disease. Family was angry and distraught, her treatment stopped when the governor shut down hospitals in March, she could have had some more time but died earlier than she should have due to lack of care. She was a State Trooper that dedicated her life to public service. The people hospitalized for COVID at one time in the entire state would have fit in one booth at McDonalds, yet hospitals were not allowed to treat this woman. This by my definition is insidious, not reasonable precautions like some smugly insist we believe. .

Your post describes you...exactly.

You are among the doomers who are only thinking about yourselves. You ignore...still...the 30 MILLION Americans who remain unemployed.

You and other doomers should consider what is best for the vast majority...not just your own teeny, tiny part of the universe.

Though I hope this question won't have to be answered, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHEN COVID-20 COMES ALONG?

There you go - if you don't like the message then attack the messenger.

Can you really claim with a straight face that in a disaster of this magnitude there won't be people who lose their jobs, their businesses, their livelihoods? You honestly thought the good times would always continue to roll and there would never be a victim?

Unfortunately you haven't yet realized that a population that is sick is just as bad or possibly worse for the economy than a population that is sheltering in place and trying to stay healthy. There is nothing worse than losing your job? How about losing your job because you are sick? How about continuing to work when sick and spreading it to an incalculable number of others? You just don't get it, and I doubt that you ever will.

And when COVID-Whatever comes along, I'm going to do what I have done for COVID-19 - but I'm not ignore it and pretend that it's it's not a problem and just going to go away. Neither am I going to promulgate false facts like "It's just like the flu", "We'll be open by Easter" and "The cure is worse than the disease". Sound the call for the science-deniers to unite all you like - I won't be rallying to that cry. Ever.

Sister in law and neighbor nearly checked out on stuff that could have been caught in a non ER visit. Neighbor is still recovering. He really cut it close. He waved as he was loaded into the meat wagon, uncharacteristically. He doesn't remember a thing.

Oh, my..

...you make no sense, again.

I am appalled 30 plus MILLION Americans are unemployed. That you suggest I endorse that underscores your ignorance. Wow.

Note: If English is a secondary language for you perhaps my comments are a bit harsh. If not, wow, again.

I am saddened to read this...

...dockmurgw, truly.

I am even more saddened that others are similarly situated having been denied proper medical protocols/treatments. Please tell your wife I am sad, too. Yes, angry, as well.

Be safe...be well.

You're joking, right?

If not, we would lose because doomers would offer we cannot fight back if too close to one another.

As a society we seem unable to believe that bad stuff which happens to everyone else in the world can really happen to us. If this is our century's Pearl Harbor, we're close to failing the test.

(Edited for foolishness)

So you got a taste of you own medicine - it's a bit too late to complain about the flavor now.

Call a person a Doomer? Then don't complain about being called a Denier in the next breath. Beat your chest and say you are appalled at 30 million unemployed? Here's a revelation - nobody is happy about it. Nobody. Did you actually think someone would be???? Don't bother to answer that - it wasn't really a question.

I've been trying to think of a way to frame this issue so that even the least common denominator can understand it, so here it is:

You can't fix the economy until you control the virus. Period.

Trying to deny that is like a flat-earther trying to deny gravity. If you put the cart before the horse all you do is make the pandemic last longer and the economy worse in the long run. Just witness what is happening in the states that are opening up too aggressively. If you work on the virus first then Yes there will be economic pain, but you will be able to get back on the road to recovery quicker.

The virus doesn't care, so what are you doing to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem? Based on your comments, apparently not much that I can see - and sticking your thumbs in your ears and waggling your fingers at other folks over the internet may entertain a few others on this forum but really doesn't help anyone.

The central governments of most EU member countries have far more power to act unrestrained by civil rights concerns and are able to make use of a far more centralized medical structure, etc. This is not the case in the USA where power/decision making is retained by the individual states as per the COTUS. Sincerely. bruce.

I'm sorry, but that just made me laugh. Check out the UK and European parts of BBC news to see how well the "draconian enforcement" is working. Not. So. Much.

"Requesting"? That is not a demand, and means people have a choice, correct?

I phrased it that way because you had to beware of certain subtleties in the speech. I must say his speech writer earned his crust with Wednesday's statement.

If you listened carefully, the governor made it pretty clear that sanctioning the individual may not be within the remit of law enforcement as the current Nevada law stands. However, he said that the state DOES have jurisdiction over businesses, so if you want to go into any stores or places with public access (even if it is actually private property) you had better have your mask.

The mantra is:-

No shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service.

The game here is that by the letter of the law you have a choice, but if life is basically impossible with no mask, compliance will follow.

Oddly, I see no connection between a viral pandemic and large capacity magazines. I'm just ignorant, I guess.

Like OMG, you quoted a bad person, he is being erased as we speak for crimes against humanity.

I can't believe I had to read that name my eyes, wheres my safe space?...

But, I don't understand how the virus numbers, hospitalizations and deaths can be climbing

The "experts" right here on this forum swore that it would just go away when summer came. They promised.

The swore it was all a media hoax.

The said it was only a flu.

The just keep swearing to their facts.

I just keep getting disappointed.

They KNOW, they couldn't be wrong!

Could they?
