In my opinion when Ruger decided to produce a J frame sized snubby to compete with S&W they had to do something to make it seem "new and innovative."
It has a pinned, replaceable front sight, the polymer frame, uniquely milled cylinder and a very nice crisp trigger. The grip is small, concealable and covers the backstrap giving it a more comfortable trigger reach and some cushion against recoil. Features which made it a success.
However, the S&W J frame has very strong aftermarket support. The trigger can be tuned to perform as good as if not better than the LCR's and there's a nearly limitless selection of holsters ang grips available.
I agree with Worshipbass12 that It's a time proven design and they're proven to be dependable and reliable.
I'm not going to say I'll never carry an LCR but if I do, I know I'll have my trusty S&W J frame to back it up.
