Zim keeps coming up as a BAD example.
Has he been found guilty of ANYTHING? Has any accusation held up under scrutiny? He still has a carry permit. What does that tell you?
The media is spinning every mention of him to make him look bad. They are pushing hard, relentlessly, to convict him in the court of public opinion. Are you falling for it?

What it tells me is that there are still many good people in this country.
I would not recommend doing what Mr. Zimmerman did, but he didn't do anything illegal. He had a genuine concern for his neighborhood which is generally seen as lacking today. Further, a group of his peers was able to see that his firearm use was truly self-defense. This is a very good thing.

And, it is lawyers who make mountains out of molehills for personal gain. They 'peacefully' ruin innocent lives in court for money. Many of them run for office in order to gain more control and ruin more lives.
The law and lawyers discarded the concept of 'right and wrong', and embraced 'control' long ago.
Many lawyers should live in fear for the WRONGS they've done. Many should be hung in the town square.

I completely disagree. We should not be in the habit of using the law to 'right' every single minor transgression. A simple punch in the face might indeed be what's called for, from time to time. A person should not be able to run their mouth with impunity, all day every day, not caring about those they hurt.

No, this is not a logical conclusion.
I would be better to say, "If you are attacked and are unwilling to use the gun you have with you, there is a chance you'll be killed with that gun." But even that isn't really a logical statement.
I think it's better to ask, "If you're not willing to use the gun you carry, why are you carrying it?"

I've never been to court. I'm not bitter. I'm angered by what is happening in our country.
Behind every bit of bad news is a lawyer looking for fame and fortune. There's not just a few bad apples. They're everywhere.
And behind every war atrocity there is a Soldier. Theyre everywhere. Behind every botched operation, there is a doctor. It looks like youre taking small scoops and making it into a mountain. Not everyone is a criminal despite all the arrests going on.
Just because the media publicizes it, doesnt mean its a majority of the group.
True story. I was down in NOLA right after Katrina, when it was at its' worst. Our billet was on a rundown gambling boat. One night we heard a helluva firefight. Asked a local deputy the next day what had happened. There had been a shootout in the Wally World pharmacy. "But we tagged them as drowned so wewouldn't have to do the paperwork"!!!

BEST case scenario is that he's going to end up blind, crippled or neutered. More likely, he's going have his MOS changed to "bullet trap".
People who think "we don't have enough fistfights" are generally young, physically fit, and have poor impulse control.

Who can place another shot in a person who was hit, but turned his back to you and may be armed?

Do you shoot him in the back?
(2)If there is more than one perp,, do you turn your attention to the other one and forget about the one with his back to you?

(3) What do you do if the perp you shot is sitting on the floor with his back against the wall looking at you,, but he isn't moving ,but his hand is cradling a gun in his lap,, and there is still another perp somewhere in your house,, ?

Well. No shooting wouldnt be good though a non fatal wound which doesnt do too much could be less financially than the loss of ones estate. Were straying a bit far as i was speaking of punching and not shooting

As testosterone charged as this is, most people wont come to the moment of truth until it arrives.
I'm aware of very few non-cops who have been either criminally charged or sued for shooting someone in a justified shooting. When does it get dicey? When the justified shooting was preceded by drinking....drugs.....ego......someone who insisted on escalating a verbal disagreement instead of walking away, someone who escalated a road rage incident instead of driving away....Someone who couldn't keep their johnson in their pants and thought there's nothing wrong with screwing a married woman because he had a gun on him, let's see.....Someone who always wanted to be a cop but couldn't pass the psychological.....Napoleon Complexes or other personality disorders....A refusal to mind their own business when someone was yelling at a girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse/child/employee.....Someone who kills another guy because he punched him in the nose and now has to convince a prosecutor that he was in fear for his life because "The guy was bigger and younger than me....." You get the picture....

ClayCow, let me expand. In the military, great emphasis is put on killing. Yet many soldiers never fire a shot, even when taking fire. In the cops, emphasis is put on the possibility, and the preparation to take a life. Most folks without one of those backgrounds have not,IMHO, sat down and really examined their thoughts and feelings about taking a life. I have seen people freeze up because they couldn't/wouldn't shoot, and I've seen grandmas who have blown thugs off the porch with a 12 gauge. It's a personal decision that requires forethought.
That still doesnt negate what i said. You can think you will kill all you want, but some wont. Provided some forethought will help someone, you will not know until the time comes.
