No. I have a 3" 6 shot K frame, with fixed sights. I really like it. I carry a semi-auto, however.

Quite interesting to have a poll on something that will never be produced because, it can't be. {wouldn't be a J frame to fit 6, in 38 cal}

I just noticed this thread got reactivated.

I think this issue came up before. The K frame is more than a J-frame stretched for a 6 round cylinder. It's beefed up and with a bigger grip frame. If you kept the rest of the dimensions of the J-frame, but stretched the frame opening for the cylinder slightly to fit a 6 round cylinder, the result would be a small, very concealable gun with one more round. Picture a 442 sized to fit one more chamber, but everything else the same.

And as for the K-frame, AFAIK, Smith doesn't make a 6 shot .38, two inch barrel, two finger grip K-frame. They could do that, and go the other route to the same effect.

A 6 shots 38Spl is already made by S&W. The J frame cylinder dia. is not large enough to have 6 holes in it! So, when you increase the J frame cylinder diameter to have 6 holes you have made a K frame cylinder!

Perhaps a 6 shot .30 Super Carry with moon clips? Although I am not a fan of moon clips per se. But a 6 shooter could use two 3 round half moon clips.

The 327 magnum is pretty much what you are describing with a slightly longer round.

A truly nasty round in it's most powerful versions - low 357 Magnum energies with recoil to match, and a report that really likes muffs AND plugs to tame.

The lesser 327 rounds give what the 32 H&R Magnum could have been but for the rather weak H&R guns it was initially chambered for - IOW, 38 Special +P energies, (which you can actually get in 32 H&R with the Buffalo Bore loads that specifically say not for use in H&R guns.)

No, I hate snub nose revolvers because they kick like a mule and have terrible sights. I will stick with my 4" 686-1 because it has enough weight to be a joy to shoot, but I can still carry it if needed. If I ever got a hand gun for carry I would either go .22 8 shot revolver or an auto loader. I have tried two snub nose revolvers and hated them both with a passion.

You're not the first one to mention .327 magnum. But it's not getting much support either. I think only Ruger and Taurus are making guns. And the better SD oriented ammo loadings are hard to find. The best seems to be the 100 grail Speer Gold Dot, but it seems to have become unobtainium.

A six shot .38 will always have a decent selections of rounds on the market.

I would much, much, much rather buy a 6 shot 327 magnum J frame...

This is the product I would most like to see from Smith and Wesson.

The D frame sized revolvers are just about the perfect carry revolvers for folks wanting something more than a five shot pocket revolver. They are much easier to pack than a K/L frame, easier to shoot than a J frame, friendly for a wide variety of hand sizes, and you get six rounds of .38 Special or even .357 Magnum in some models.

It is great to see that this handy revolver size is being rediscovered, and that there are new options from Kimber, Colt, Taurus, and Charter. If Smith and Wesson can create a new frame size, the Z frame, to compete with the Judge, they can certainly give the C frame concept another try.

If it would physically hold 6 rounds of
38 Spl , it wouldn't BE a J Frame .

In this discussion , all the other examples are " sorta kinda like a J Frame , just a little bigger , but still fairly small " .

Nothing wrong with that concept . it's been around long before there were J Frames . Before 1926 even , Colt had offered 2 inch bbls on Police Positive Specials , it was only giving a seperate model name in 1926 .

* Stretching * a frame is simple , that's how the I Frame led into the J Frame
Expanding a frame is more complicated .

* Could * S&W develope a new frame size of a particular size ? Sure . Would it be prudent or economically worthwhile ? Probably not .

More relevant , and more feasable requests to make of Mfgs :

Ask Taraus to have better triggers and Quality Control on 856 , in exchange for $50 higher prices .

Ask Ruger about the feasibility of 6 shot "
38 Only " SP101 .

Ask S&W to bring back / introduce more .32 J Frames .

Ask S&W about modern metallurgy to bring back a M12 , rated for Plus P
