Would you trade a 19-5 for a 66?

I'd trade a 19-5 for a 66, but not a 19-4 or earlier.

Im with Ma Deuce and if it has a SS rear site do the trade ASAP !

A Model 66 no dash is more valuable than a 19-5 and also has a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder (P&R).
A 19-5 is not P&R and has the chemical blueing that is less desirable than older versions.

AS a side note gentle use of certain Scotch brite pads will remove light scratches in a SS revolver where blueing loss requires a reblue.

Guys, I do not have any deals lined up for a trade of my 19. I'm thinking about trading it and I wanted to find out if any of you would trade or not. I may put it up for trade on here but I'm still debating whether or not to keep the blued gun.

I traded my 4" P&R Nickeled 19-4 + $230 for a 2.5" P&R 66-1.

I must have wanted that gun real bad!

(I think it was because the dash-1 guns are so hard to find or maybe it was just temporary insanity?)

I polished it up all shiny-like and put ivory on it, then replaced the sight with an early stainless version. I really don't regret trading for it, but then I also have 2 other blued 19's...

a 19-5 is not pinned and recessed, but it still has it where it counts; no MIM Parts for one and the trigger is still really good.

Not knowing your intended use, and with out saying keep both, here is what I would Consider:

Trade the 19-5 for the 66.

Then save up and get a 19-3 or a 19-4.

The Reason I suggest this is because you can carry the 66, and not worry about the blueing fading or anything like that.

Then find a real nice 4" 19-3 or 19-4 and get nice grips like Kuracs for it, and that can be your occasional shooter.

They are both 4" guns so everything being equal, get the one that you will use, shoot and carry more. which would be a 66.

That's just how I would lean.
