I saw 6 of these today at a gun show as low as $515.00.

I think with the aftermarket +2 mag extension it is perfect for male hands.

Any thoughts?

Next gun show is own my birthday...

627, I would like to hear about what others have to say tooo..

I ran a couple magazines throught one at my local outdoor range a couple months ago and I liked it.

My Son manages the gun dept of a large sporting goods store and can get me one for $379. Probably a no-brainer, should just get him to order it.

I own an XD .45 with a 5 inch tube. It was purchased because it fit my hand much better than a G#@^&. I have a light mounted on the rail and it is my bump in the night gun. It is a good gun, but I am thinking about changing to a M&P in .45 for my home protection handgun. The frame mounted safety which is 1911 style is my biggest reason for changing.

21.7 oz unloaded is a handful with .45 ACP. I handled one the other day at the LGS and was impressed with its construction. Check out hickok45's 2-part video shooting it.

I have more than one, which one you want to know about?:D

Regular XD, XDm or XDs?? Guess that gives my opinion:). They new XDs is not as brutal as you may think. With 180 gr bullets it is perfect. I do not care for the plus round mag think it detracts from the design of the gun.

Had a SW full size 45 which is now one of the above guns.

I really like SA XD and they have great CS like SW.

They are great guns and the trigger to me is way better than Glocks.

I bought one when they first came out this summer after handling them at the NRA convention in April. An excellent little gun. Completely reliable, light, compact, and the 45 acp is very manageable in this gun.

I've shot all kinds of reloads from 155 gr LSWC to 230 gr JHP. Also shot a bunch of the current and older factory 230 gr self defense loads. I've been carrying it a lot and shooting it a lot. My personal preference is 230 grain HPs for every day carry. I did add a set of XS Big Dot night sights since this picture was taken.

Just picked one up four months ago. It replaced a compact 9MM PT 709, and followed on the heels of a Springfield XDM 5.25 comp.

I liked the full size so much, I knew I wouldn't have a problem with liking the XDS.

I have been as impressed with this gun right out of the box as much as any pistol I own.

What follows is based on 1200 rounds through it since date of purchase:

It is surprisingly easy to handle...feels nothing like a compact 45. The fit and finish are very good to excellent. Sights are very nice, easy to get on target. It's a tiny bit snappy, but you only notice it when you get over 100 rounds or so...might just be me getting a little muscle fatigue. The grip with the shorter magazine is not difficult to manage at all.

Trigger is not "target fine," but it is not bad, considering the trigger safety. Not the smoothest in the world, but certainly won't hamper shooting well, and it seems to be smoothing out as I shoot it more.

Accuracy is amazing. I did not expect to be able to hit 6 inch steel at 25 yards with the thing...but I did, as well as several others who tried it.

No FTE's/FTF's of any kind. Shot Rem and Fed 230 gr ball, Hornady Critical Defense in both 185 and 230, Blazer ball in 230...ate them all up without a glitch.

Take down is easy, cleaning is not a chore...

in other words nothing to dislike at all. [I know, I know, part plastic, made in Croatia...but they made me a believer with the XDM, and the XDS has done nothing to change my mind!]

Case comes with everything you need. I ordered some 7 round mags. My carry configuration is the 5 round mag in gun in the holster, the two 7 rounders in the magazine holster. Carries very easy, I now actually have a CC gun that I really "forget it's there."

Now it's not a 3rd gen, or a Sig...but it is a very, very good gun.

I'm a fan. Hope this helps.

I carry an XDm-45 and love it. I was a Glock fanboy, still am. But the XDm series fits my hands better, and is just wonderful to shoot. I prefer the ergonomics of the Springfields. First time I handled the Springers, I fell in love with them.

Picked up an XDs as a backup a few weeks ago, and I like it just as much as the full size gun. You will be amazed at how well it handles recoil. I have the 7-round mags, but prefer to carry with the 5-rounder in the gun, with the larger cap mags on my belt. Brilliant gun designs.

I also have the xds .Put over 900 rounds through it .Been a real good gun . The more I shoot it the more I like it .When I carry the xds it is with the 5 round mag .I use the 7 round mag. at he range.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only aftermarket grips for the XD-s are from Talon. Nothing by Hogue or Pach as of yet.

I had an XD for quite a while, it was my nightstand gun along with the TLR1 flashlight hanging from it. Very dependable gun, always shot where it was pointed (a good thing to have happen!) and I had complete confidence in it. Traded it off for a Smith 5" 27 (I threw in some cash too). Like all the plastic guns I've had, there is no emotional attachment for me.

I have a Pachmayr 05117 that fits pretty good on an XDs that I test fit and fired. Originally purchased for my XD40SC, I will be using it on an XDs when I buy one here shortly. You may have to trim it slightly to prevent it from sliding over the grip safety though. I fired the XDs about 30 times and the grip stayed put. Try one out.

I didn't even know such grips existed.?
Only kind I have seen are those slip on rubbers. Those Talon look like skateboard tape. What would be the advantage of changing the grip?? The XDs has a pretty aggressive grip texture.

The slip on grip makes the gun fit better in my hand, and into the space between my fingers. Just a more solid feel, in my opinion.

I've sort of "retired" my Glock 36 in favor of a Springfield XDm Compact for EDC. It's no larger than the G36, but with 9+1 with the flush fit mag, and with a 13 round mag in reserve, it offers much more "firepower" in an equivalent envelope. It's well made, feature-laden (light rail on the dustcover, grip safety --- a big selling point IMO, tactile cocking and loaded chamber indicators, interchangeable backstraps and magazine sleeves, lanyard attachment point, all very desirable features...) The trigger is not what I'd call great, but is acceptable, and I expect it to improve with use, and the gun has functioned perfectly so far. I'll endorse it...

I have an XDS that is one of a few different pieces that I carry. For my type of dress, it's not a pocket carry piece for me, but it works great for me using iwb. Maybe if a person wore khakis or cargos then pocket carry might work.

Being small, for me its a two finger grip. Not a bad thing as I got used used to shooting with two fingers on the grip with items like a cm9 and the venerable j frame.

Being a light .45 when shooting it, it does have some more kick compared to a 9mm. But unless you are very recoil sensitive it's recoil seemed very manageable.

I, too, had read of issues with them in the beginning, but quite a few months had passed, so decided to go ahead and get one. I cleaned and lubed it thoroughly prior to the first range trip and thankfully mine has worked fine for me from day one using white box 230gr fmjs, reloads in 230gr fmj and finally rangers in 230gr jhp.

I have Talon grips on my XDm, and have a set in the toolkit for the XDs, but with the more aggresive "tread" I haven't bothered to put them on yet. All my other polymer guns have Talons or PRP's.
