Yeti

As I said in an earlier post, I never bought Yeti products simply because I considered them to be too expensive for what they are. My choice was, and remains, based on economics, not their corporate policies.

Think about it ....... ^^^^^ this is exactly what YETI, DICKS and all the other businesses that stop their association with the NRA, or stop selling certain types of guns etc, etc, want you to do. They want you do nothing and keep quiet. They want you to just rollover and take it.

I have never bought anything from YETI either, but I refuse to keep quiet and give them a pass when they take a swipe at gun owners.

I'm of the opinion that sportsmen and gunowners need to stand up and contact them and let them know their actions will affect their "bottom line" ....... that's the best way to fight back.

Otherwise you can just sit on your hands and one day look back and wonder what happened when there is no NRA and no guns.

Well everyone loves Snopes so here is their undecided reply.

FACT CHECK: Did YETI Cut Ties with the NRA?

But then you have these two yahoos who to me are not really representing the NRA well not Sportsmen.

Sure it may be fun but the "public's opinion" ???

NRA supporters are blowing up Yeti coolers. Yeti says it’s all a big mistake. - The Washington Post

On Monday afternoon, for example, Bryan Atkinson unloaded a Yeti cooler from the bed of a truck parked on a dirt road in the middle of a South Carolina field. Inside the cooler he placed ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder, packaged in a cardboard box sealed with duct tape.
“This Yeti,” he said, “ain’t ready.”
His friends took the cooler out to the middle of the muddy field and set it down. Atkinson got on one knee and lifted his AR-15 to eye level. Then, with one shot, he blew the Yeti cooler to pieces.
“If Yeti can’t stand behind the NRA, I ain’t standing behind Yeti no more,” Atkinson told the camera during a Facebook Live video, which has been shared more than 2,300 times.

Also from the article this idiot.

Painful to watch the whole video

Facebook

Way to go Bubba! Damn! A proud NRA member.

Yea, can't say I place much value on Snopes.

Anyway, the way I read the Yeti corporate statement is they put together a bunch of vague double speak about the great outdoors that does not pertain to their claimed support of the 2nd Amendment. I see no statement of a commitment to the NRA or any 2nd Amendment support organization. Or any actions that they have taken or plan to take to support the 2nd Amendment.

So, you get to decide for yourselves what they really support and choose whether you buy their products or not. Myself, I probably would not have bought in to such an expensive line of items but I think this will make that decision much easier.

I don't own anything Yeti and until recently, I would have said that I probably never will. But now "probably" has become "definitely."

It's YETI. Who really cares??

A lot of people care. It's part of an ongoing effort to delegitamize and deplatform the NRA and it's members. Ironically, I see you have an NRA badge on your header.

The Second Amendment is the foundation upon which the First Amendment stands. With the Second, we'll soon have no First.

You do not know this as a fact. There is no factual statement from Yeti that they bash the NRA. It is a war pf words between Yeti and what they sent to the NRA

Contrary to popular belief not everyone in the USA is a NRA supporter, just like any other organization

I have been "boycotting" Yeti since they first came on the market as they are too damn expensive.

How many people here are going to now not buy a Yeti? Probably no one as they weren't going to be in the market anyway.

How may have gone out and blown their Yeti up like BUBBA.??
What good does that do? Kinda like the guy that cut his rifle in half. Yeti already has Bubbas money.
Real fine example of gun ownership:rolleyes:

I am more concerned with image that Bubba and the Girls (video, language) portray of NRA members. They are a real fine representation.

Much like the idiots in the TV GUN shows that are now in jail or the idiots on You Tube The do a real disservice to legitimate gun owners,

So no, I could care less about Yeti and their corporate policy.

There are much bigger stakes involved than coolers.

Out of the statements made public, make of it what you will.

But on Monday, just as the backlash and calls for boycott picked up steam, Yeti said in a statement to The Washington Post, also posted on Yeti’s Facebook account, that the NRA letter was “inaccurate.” The Austin-based retailer said it notified various organizations, including the NRA Foundation, that it was eliminating a “group of outdated discounting programs” from which the organizations benefited.
The NRA was not specifically targeted, Yeti said.
“When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations of this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation,” Yeti said. “These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20.”

Based upon the Yeti clarification, it sounds like they narrowly view the Second Amendment as providing the right to hunt, provided you use traditional hunting weapons. It says nothing about shooting, shooting competitions, gun collecting, keeping arms, bearing arms, or the citizen's role in the security of a free state.

My guess is they failed to anticipate the backlash they got from snubbing the NRA, and the "clarification" is the best their PR folks could come up with in an attempt to avoid self-inflicted disaster.

Just my opinion.

I chose not to share what little money I have with companies that are anti gun. I stopped buying Levi Strass products many years ago. I don't eat Ben & Jerry ice cream. Although I was raised in the Methodist church, I stopped attending and tithing when they declared themselves as being anti gun. Never owned a Yeti product and I sure won't now.

We all make choices. These are mine.

I won a Yeti cup (free drawing), As a statement I think I'll send it back to them, along with a short little note explaining why.
If you havent used it, crush it so they can't resell it.

Originally when I responded to their website I told them they had **** in their messkits. Guys and Gals that drop $thousands on firearms and accessories are more likely to spend $hundreds on over-priced coolers.

In response to their email I posted above, I pointed out that their whopping 10 years of support for outdoor activities pales in comparison to the nearly 150 years the NRA has been doing it. And if I'm believing someone about the facts of the issue its going to be an organization I've been a member of longer than they have been around.

And I've discovered NRA stickers adequately cover the yeti logo on my coolers.

Concur wholeheartedly!

I swear, if the NRA told folks to give up bacon and beer some would immediately.

This is NOT a knock on the NRA; rather it's a caution to any of those people who allow a corporate entity to impose its views on a personal matter.

Make your own decisions...based on what is good for you.

Be safe.

Most people probably didn't pay much attention to Yeti. They either bought Yeti products or they didn't. ...

But once they became painted with the anti-gun-anti-NRA brush, they instantly morphed into another corporate bogey man, and the haters come out of the woodwork like squirrels in the woods who've heard the hunters have gone.

...My choice was, and remains, based on economics, not their corporate policies.

Me, for one. We are in the market for another high end cooler, and Yeti is now off the list. No, I'm not going to destroy the one I have, but I won't send any more money their way.

I've listened to both sides so far, hoping it was a misunderstanding. But I'm not satisfied with Yeti's damage control. What other organizations had this happen to them? Why was the NRA forced to cancel orders they already had in place?

Like jlrhiner said, when in doubt, I'll trust the word of the NRA over a short term company like Yeti.
