M&P 15-22 Results, Post 'em here. I got Mine!!

Ive got no emails, but i ordered 1 mag last night, and just called S&W, said it shipped out today.

Howdy Burk -- just like the previous reply, I also load my mag to the max with no problems, regardless of ammo. Agree that can be a problem with some .223 mags. I'm 100% P-Mag now because of that. The other thing I didn't like about the Colt M4-22 that I traded, was that same issue of a fully-loaded mag. One round less and it was OK. My GSG-5 is also like the M&P15-22 -- no problems from fully loading the mags.

Just got the tracking info email from S&W, be here next Thursday, i'll just have to stare at it, till my gun gets back to me.

Thanks to you and ko41 for the good news. Gotta love it when things work the way they're supposed to. I've also had good luck with the .223 P-mag, think I had one 20 rd that messed up but the 30 rd mags were great. It may have been a fluke with the 20 rd. I've also got a couple of John Masen 30 rd that worked perfect when filled to the max.

Well, my magazine order arrived in a week. All loaded fine after the technique was established. Now I just need a range day...

I suspect any mag problems are the result of either cartridges shifting from their correct orientation during loading, or just the sheer newness. I found that by repeatedly pulling down on the loading buttons an inch or so, then releasing them so the spring takes over, I could get the rounds re-oriented correctly. Keep the mag vertical when you do it.

The mag construction reminds me of AK mags: thick material and robust design, much better than the Big Dog I saw.

I am really enthused, can you tell? The first hiccup at the range will crush me, I know...

i had plently of 'Hicups' with mine, really disappointed me. Cant wait to get it back from S&W.

Congrats. Where did you buy? That's a good price; the lowest I've seen is $449 from Academy. A lot of people seem to have had success with the CCI. That's a good thing, 'cause I've got a brick waiting to be expended. Your're right about the "feel". I'm sure you will continue to enjoy it.

I found mine at Jay's Sporting Goods in Clare, MI. Jay's doesn't normally discount guns to LE, but there was a whole lot of calculating that went on before I got my price.

There's a place in Muskegon called Gary's Guns. He has been selling them at $409. plus tax. The only problem with that is that the guns are gone minutes after he receives them.

RE: loading up the mags - no problem feeding 25. I even loaded one in the chamber and added one to the mag several times without a hiccup.

Now I need to find a good case...

Everyone hopes you got the "one in a thousand" and it comes back working real quick. Brand new machinery often takes a little exercise to smooth out, and I'm sure guns made in the last few years with modern tooling is somewhat better than they have been, but nothing beats a hand-honed, hand fitted firearm, none of which the 15-22 is. The parts are probably as precise as possible, but nobody can work out every kink.

A disappointment.....

I may have to send my M&P 15-22 back to S&W.

Skunk no.8 was taken last night from about 30 yards.
I took a shot at skunk no.9 after I got to within 40 yards of it, but it
ducked into the culvert under my driveway. I waited for at least 30 minutes for it to come out of the culvert but the little stinker never showed its face. Being unable to verify a kill on skunk no.9 my confidence in this rifle is shattered. Do I now send it back to S&W for them to check it out and see what went wrong or just chalk it up as a one time malfunction and no.9's lucky night?

;)

i would try just firing it alot, test it out somemore, if it does fine, i sure wouldnt send it off. You'd be sad like me, lol.

Good shooting! I spoke to my brother-in-law last night and he told me he has shot 5 pesky grey squirrels this past week with his new M&P15-22.

He's got about 1,500 rounds through it and the rifle seems "smoother" these past 500 rounds. Now his neighbor wants one but can't find one!

I hate to say it, but I hope the 15-22 turns out to be this century's Ruger 10-22, as it was for the 20th. The magazine may be somewhat a backward step from the Savage style rotary, but the materials and configuration of the rest of it, for a dedicated .22, are revolutionary.

i was hoping S&W would get my gun from UPS today, instead of tomorrow, which would be a day earlier, but no such luck let, ive been tracking.
