SW MP15 post about Orlando and if you have a CCW to always carry cause you never know got me to thinking about situations and possibilities.
As I am somewhat in the country, town a mile and a half away, but the north side of my property borders a major rural east west highway. Traffic has increased over the years, so not quiet here anymore. Everyday I walk the dog, and two horses down the lane. Main thought for me is an animal, possibly rabid, though I guess could be an idiot with issues.
How would I handle situation while leading 2 horses, one in each hand? You would not want a horse getting loose especial of towards the highway, traffic moves at 55 or higher, and is typical not observant or slows down, even for Amish buggies. Firing a handgun next to a horse is guaranteed to cause a reaction, and so?????? How does one draw with your hands full?
Best thought so far, is be observant, anticipate !
Get horses behind gate in pasture, and then handle as needed ?
Depending upon my looks and eloquence might delay or possibly speed up issues?

Aware and anticipate seems best solution so far?
Many years ago while riding on a gravel road, we did have a dog come out from a property that would not listen to shouts, etc. Got to close to one horse, and tried to nip the horse. Horse resolved issue, and dog limped badly away!
