FBI agent loses gun during dance back flip

He's Government, different standards than for us in the lower castes. A few years ago there was a bad spill at one of the refineries here in NJ, the workers didn't follow the proper procedures, one showed up late, had been drinking, etc. They were fired IMMEDIATELY and their names were made public.

Still waiting for toxicology...……………………………….

…………………………………… ………………………………………

……………………………………………………………………………

Funny it never takes this long on COPS

I'm hoping someone close enough to the case can and will keep us posted as things develops
the media probably already forgot about this so updates will need to be bootlegged out of Denver.

I just found this:

"The dancing FBI agent who dropped his gun from a waistband holster while doing a backflip and then shot a man in the leg while trying to pick the firearm up has been identified as 29-year-old Chase Bishop, KMGH-TV reports. The victim was not seriously injured. Bishop has not been charged, but an investigation into the incident is underway.

Video of Bishop's dance moves and negligent discharge of his gun went viral on social media this week after the early Saturday morning incident at the Mile High Spirits Distillery and Tasting Bar in Denver, Colorado. He was questioned after the incident, but released to an FBI supervisor. "The incident is being investigated by the Denver Police Homicide Unit and charges will be determined by the Denver District Attorney's Office," the Denver Police Department said in a statement. The FBI has not commented because of the ongoing investigation. Denver Police said the victim was shot in the leg and was in "good condition" and is recovering."

Young Mr Bishop isn't a Denver agent. He apparently is stationed in or around DC and was here for some kind of training.

He is from Tennessee, is a graduate of Jerry Fallwell's Liberty University, and is a former officer in the United States Army. His Army record (as a safety officer) must have been pretty good or the Bu wouldn't have hired him.

I'm sure his continued fall from grace will be very public.

This is from media reports. I don't know him, and the Bureau Cone Of Silence has descended on all concerned parties.

It is favorable treatment of LE that continues to erode public trust and confidence in us. I know this won't be a popular position to take, but he needs to be charged.

I think most of us would agree that if this was a civilian, we would most likely expect he would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Making accommodations for this guy and giving him special consideration BECAUSE he is FBI creates a "class" divide.

He needs to be prosecuted. Period.

You are exactly right.
The class divide does not serve any good purpose.
Protection from prosecution for acts that would not only get any other citizen crucified, but imposes a hazard unto society that cannot be contested ultimately places LEO's who DO get the job right in danger.

I pray for most of the LEOs of this forum that you safely make it to retirement. This will be a harder goal to achieve as events like this occur.

Any of us can screw up....no one is immune....BUT we should all have to pay accordingly for our actions.

If you are going out into public with a deadly weapon on your body you gotta be smarter than this....

Regardless of what kind of person he was all the days up to the "dance"....his life is now defined by his one very stupid mistake.....just a stupid way to screw up several people's lives!

Hope the injured patron heals well and everyone involved moves on from this

He needs to be prosecuted. Period.

Huh? That is clearly THE MOST POPULAR position to take, both here and on the entire internet.

Here's the UNpopular position:

Follow the law.

He was allowed under the law to carry a gun into the bar.

He was allowed to dance, even badly, and do a backflip.

He screwed up when he didn't properly maintain control of his weapon. Luckily he didn't Bill Jordan anybody.

I don't know if he stuck around and rendered aid. Hard to tell in a short cell phone video. I don't know if he tried to badge his way out of it. I doubt anyone here does, either.

No one in the Bureau is circling the wagons around a 29 year old new guy. His only hope is that he wasn't drunk and did the right things after the shot. The Bureau eats its young, and I strongly believe he will will be eaten, digested, and expelled.

It will take a while to get a valid toxicology report; most labs are grossly understaffed. For us, as I recall (I'm not in the criminal division anymore and have little contact with such), 6-8 weeks is typical on a DUI. Impaired or not, it should not have happened and the law here would easily allow charging.

I am not impressed with the conduct here ... at least not favorably. He was in a place that he never should have been, doing thinks that are not wise, and using substandard gear (holster). The pistol falling out did not have to be a big deal; every credible instructor tells students to let it drop, and this is why. His ill-trained and frankly just awful gun-handling anger me. Once it went off, he had an obligation to check on the welfare of others who might have been hit as a result of his negligence. All of his conduct is consistent with not being appropriately dedicated to the realities and obligations of being armed. Whatever he was in the assessment of others until this event, he is exposed as a buffoon now.

Charging? I would be hard to persuade not to, for a lot of reasons. This is not like the usual malicious outcry by the moonbats after a perfectly lawful and sound shooting by LE. leading to some of the frivolous prosecutions (Baltimore, Tulsa, etc.) by corrupt or ignorant "prosecutors". They are not of my tribe, and neither is this lackwit.

Cell Phone Video

The only reason we can hope for a complete and full investigation and disclosure is the fact that somebody was taking video of the moron.

If this was a Denver cop, no video and nobody was injured, there wouldn't even be an investigation.

If I was the victim, shot in my favorite leg, I would have a hard time forgiving his stupidity. A really Ha,aaa, aaa.rd time forgiving him. I bet his pants got bloody, cut off, probably ruined a good shoe (maybe both) and wasted a good night. Who knows, the victim was probably going to get lucky with his date, only to get unlucky with a meathead FBI agent.

Not to mention the bar owner, had to clean up the mess, has a shooting on his liquor license review, will lose all kinds of business (like who wants to go to a bar that has shootings), probably going to get sued by the victim also. Real mess there

I guess he probably just cost the FBI some hefty coin in liability and himself some real mess as well.

Do tell...

...us 'why' he should not have been there, please. (And God forbid he was dancing. The Devil must be involved!)

States in which I have lived the vast majority of my life do NOT bar lawful consumption of alcohol in conjunction with lawful CCW. They expect their citizens to live in the land of good decisions.

Re: toxicology, what makes you think there was a tox screen? Or believe he was, in fact, intoxicated?
Having been involved in myriad shooting investigations, I cannot recall one where a tox screen was a consideration...let alone done.

Not defending the post-shoot actions of the SA but the video is just a snippet...we don't know the aftermath in totality.

Be safe.

He was in a bar at 0:15. I would be surprised if he was not drinking.

I agree that a tox screen shouldn't be a consideration for charges, but may support adding charges after the results. DPD today said they are still waiting on the tox screen and then will refer to the DA for review of possible charges.

Colorado does not allow CCW license holder to carry if they have any alcohol in their system. But because this idiot is given special treatment because he is LEO, who knows what the outcome will be.
