The signs are up at Walmart

I was quite happy when WM said they were no longer going to carry handgun ammo, black rifles or their ammo as it gives REAL gun and ammo sellers back the business they lost to WM...and I have been carrying a gun daily since 1970...never once openly even in the middle of NoWhere....

That said I stopped shopping in WM last fall after the CEO announced they have now partnered with Bloomberg's Every Town for Gun Safety anti-gun campaign... Not going to spend my money with any retailer who is going to turn part of it over to a faction that wants to remove my guns or ability to protect myself... There isn't anything at WM that I can't find just as cheap somewhere else..that goes for SAM's also...done with them too.

I wonder how many posters bashing wal-mart's decision at the same time refuse to be an NRA member or display pro-gun (NRA etc...) decals on their vehicles?

Not only a Life NRA member but also GOA and SAF...and never "advertise"...reason, it just like never carrying open.

Back in the 1970s I was going to college in Boston and had a NRA sticker on the vent window of my 64 Dodge... Came out one day and the window was broken out... Have never had ANY sticker for anything on my vehicles since...fly under the radar.

I don't have an NRA decal on my vehicles, or any other type of gun/hunting-related sticker. Folks who want to advertise that they have guns at home or in their vehicle have every right to do so. None of my business. That subject's been beaten to death on this forum, anyway.

And Walmart? Bashing Walmart's apparently lots of fun for people. I shop there a good bit. I couldn't care less what kinds of signs they stick up in their windows. I might not like the atmosphere there, but I save a lot of money shopping there. No one should need more than one guess as to which is more important to me.

I proudly display my NRA membership on my car, and wear T-shirts & hats regularly. I could care less about Walmart policy, I carry concealed. AZ has been an open carry state forever, yet I rarely see anyone carrying open and when I do I do notice that no seems to care.

Hey! Ease up on him, Kurusu! That’s a legit question for most of us over 50 or so. :( :D

I'm 63.:D:D:D

Edit. But I will define waist. It is an area no lower than 2 inches below your navel that can go up to 4 inches below your armpits.:D

My dog is cleaner than some people I see at WalMart, and better behaved than a lot of the kids. All the same, I don't take him. Some things just should not be sniffed.

Sadly, this is the truth (about the cleanliness and behavior, that is).

I just got home from running errands with my wife and I noticed that my bank is no longer posted and I specifically looked when we went to the Walmart on Powers in Colorado Springs and they are not posted against open carry. They don't sell hand gun ammunition anymore but they don't prohibit open carry in their store

Absolutely true. The gun control zealots know they can't get Congress to pass laws (yet) to restrict our rights with the law. So, they harass and scare big businesses to 'request' that nobody open carry. Once open carry becomes socially impolite, then the gun control zealots will go after concealed carry, and scare businesses into banning all guns in stores 'for the kids and families' who don't feel safe with hidden guns around them.

After the social / cultural narrative has been shifted, then the public attitude will allow for enough votes to get anti-gun politicians elected. Then they will go after us, and we'll wonder how this happened?

They are playing the long game. The lobby to get open carry banned in stores is the first move in the larger game to make guns 'impolite, uncivilized, and to be ashamed and afraid of. Don't play the first step in the game, just because *you* don't *feel* that open carry is a good idea of others who do it.
Well said , much better than my attempt to say Don't make it socially unacceptable to open carry, by doing so you become one of them ... unknowingly perhaps but still a gun banner .
In Louisiana we have always had legal open carry, a history of hunting so open carry isn't unusual ...a local restaurant even gives a 10% discount to diners who open carry . I encourage open carry at my place of business by my employee's and customers . If you don't use a freedom ...you might loose it one day . If you don't want to use it ...just support others rights to do so .

....
At my own place of employment, which is not affiliated with Walmart in any way other then as a vendor to them, Walmart has stipulated in their contract with us that our employees cannot work more then 6 days in a row and only a certain number hours of overtime a week and cannot force anyone to work mandatory overtime or else they will not do business with us. Because of Walmart's arrogance in telling other businesses what they can and cannot do, they have directly cost me untold thousands of dollars in overtime that I used to be able to get before we signed a contract with them.
...

So Walmart refuses to buy from vendors that run their businesses like sweat shops. Shame on Walmart. Who do they think they are?

Another example are the Buck 110 knives. The Walmart version comes with a nylon sheath, everyone else sells them with leather sheath. I called Buck to complain and they totally agreed with me, the sheaths should be leather but that's the way that WALMART wants them so Buck has to comply.

Dick's sporting goods has the nylon sheath ones also. I bought one on "clearance" and then later found Academy has them with the leather for the Dick's "clearance" price.

They did it by caving into pressure from the media because of El Paso and they did it by eliminating handgun ammo which CCW users need thus abandoning them. They also have plans to get rid of certain rifle ammo that can be used in certain "assault weapons" as well if they haven't already, thus abandoning that segment of firearms enthusiasts as well.

Sheesh... it's not rocket science but apparently people still don't get it.

I know my local gun shops are thrilled. They can now price their items well over Walmart prices and actually stand a chance of selling them. A win for them, but a lose for the consumers :(

Since when can't you openly smoke at Walmart?

My state, like many others has long been an OC state.

Local WM to me has always seemed to attract folks that enjoy OC there.
From my observations, about a 98% chance the carry gear will be Uncle Mike's black nylon, or for the high-speed/low-drag, some form of plastic/Kydex.

Not for me. From many years assigned to Investigations and being in plainclothes with visible badge found that OC tends to make you a 'nut magnet'.
With that descriptor in-place, wouldn't most here agree that WM is a target rich environment? And when working, it was expected that you engage and act professionally - and I was being compensated for that.

But - retirement changes things drastically. I seem to attract enough nuts without even trying. OC would make it even worse.
