The signs are up at Walmart

Open Carry is a Target

I recall just a few years ago a story of a Free Citizen openly carrying in a box store who was attacked and tackled by a do gooder trying to grab control of the gun. The do gooder was rightfully charged with assault and battery. Seems queer how some anti gunners insist that they be the only ones with the gun. Also for a time there were attacks by gang bangers wanting to steel guns as a way of counting coo.

I guess I'm in agreement with just about everyone else, I just don't think open carry is a very good idea. Better out of sight and out of mind (everyone else's, that is).

If'n you can, please tell me.....Which one is the coffee aisle ?

Iowa is also an open carry state with a large number of CC permits issued but I've never seen anyone doing so & I would probably notice after all my time in LE. Why give up the element of surprise or have some snowflake melt down & cause a scene if you are seen carrying (not that I really care about what a snowflake thinks)

Iowa does not technically have a “concealed carry” permit. We have a CW “carry weapons” permit that covers a number of weapons including firearms. To conceal or not is up to the individual.

I really wish they'd enforce the No Pets rule. What the heck is it with people taking their dog shopping? Take the dog out in the woods- they love the smells. Someone's flea bitten mutt is not what I want to see in the cereal aisle.

My dog is cleaner than some people I see at WalMart, and better behaved than a lot of the kids. All the same, I don't take him. Some things just should not be sniffed.

I have a pair of Walmart’s within a 10 minute drive.Ive seen enough weirdness in both stores to just stay away lol
We’ve become a nation of carnies!

I find it very interesting how these signs are worded. They are not assertive like a prohibition, but it sounds more like a request for cooperation. Granted, I am not a lawyer, but my take is that management doesn't have the authority to do a single thing to anyone that chooses to not comply with their request. As I read the signage, police are helpless in enforcing the policy. An open-carrier couldn't be removed from the premises or charged with trespassing.

In my state at least, a business can have a person removed for any reason, or even for no reason.

I am a staunch supporter of the 2nd no doubt. However, WHAT I'M ABOUT TO SAY NEXT IS GOING TO COMPLETELY CONTRADICT THAT.

FIFY.

I don't open carry and I fully support the property owner's right to ban the practice on their property but I also support your right to decide for yourself otherwise

In Colorado if they ask you to leave and you don't it's criminal tresspass

This has nothing to do with Walmart, but I thought it interesting. Since open carry became legal, I have seen one person doing it. I first saw him at Furr's and every time I eat breakfast at Braum's I see him.
We have had some conversations and he has a S&W 40 cal., don't know what model. He has a really nice holster, mag holster and belt made by a saddle maker in Packing town.
He wears jeans and I have never seen him wear a pair that doesn't have holes around the knee area. I know that he could afford new ones because he drives a nearly new 4dr. pickup.
He seems like a nice person. Sorry for the thread drift.
