Random Object Photographs

Certainly not random. ;)

This is what was waiting for me Sunday morning at the end of my driveway as I headed down Clear Creek Canyon headed for the San Rafael Swell.

The exit we take is the Temple Mountain exit that's about 100 miles east from me.
This is Temple Mountain, about 20 miles if from I-70.

This is about where the trail starts. You can drive a car to this point.

The Swell is a fascinating place.

We usually reach this cabin about noon time so this is where we always have lunch.

Look how close Kevin's tires came to the edge. The snow added a little excitement to this particular section.
This is a 53" inch trail and I seriously doubt that anything wider than 50" is getting past here.

A 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe sedan. I'll never understand why people love shooting up old abandoned vehicles.

This is a pic of my dad's old Leica camera that dates from the 1950s. It was state of the art then - a IIIF.

In the 1990s, after Dad's death, I discovered that the focal plane shutter on this camera had deteriorated and there were holes in it. An old gentleman I had corresponded with on a photography forum offered to take it personally to a camera repair shop in San Francisco that specialized in Leicas for the people of the press. He was a former newspaper photographer and knew the people at that shop well.

Dad's camera was superbly restored thanks to him - he's now sadly deceased. I considered him the best friend I never met, and we used to trade booze on our birthdays. It was he who got me on to Rebel Yell bourbon!

At any rate, here's the camera - good as the day it came off the boat from Germany.

Kingsbridge Armory again, 5 acres large.

Nice view of the armory. The elevated train ran along it on Jerome Avenue. I think the other street is Kingsbridge Road with the stores heading towards the armory. Do you know what year this photo was taken?
