Holy Cow
(pun intended) I think I'm going to have to look up how to make Opossum Tacos, or BBQ Racoon with dumplings or something such.
The price of meat at the store. A person would be better off hoarding or trading meat instead of that Bitcoin thing.
It's getting to the point a piece of meat is going to end up being a yearly treat..I was floored when I went to buy some steaks on Saturday..HOW MUCH for 12 oz?
Anyway, the price of corn seems to be some of the culprit..More corn to make alcohol gas, less corn for cattle feed. The cost of corn left for feeding cattle of course makes the price of meat go up.
Now the solution to that would be to buy range beef instead of beef that is sent to the feed lots to be fattened up on corm, except range beef is sort of hard to come by any more.
SO....instead of just "Chucking" (Again pun intended) that ole sow of a racoon, it just may end up in the pot instead..Those I seem to have several of coming around in the dark of night.
My daughter had sent me a photo of a opossum she had taken with her trail camera that was getting under her fence..I'll have to send her a way of fixing it, instead of her just schoosing it away...(In case you've never have tried it, opossum is kind of greasy tasting)
It's soon going to be frog season around here, but I've never been a big fan of frog legs though.
What else critters around here? Got the usual rabbits and squirrels. Rabbits Ok, first burnt the hair, before skinning, other wise rabbit fur got everywhere....Squirrels??? About the only thing worth saving is the hind legs, not enough on the back strap or front legs to hardly mess with.
OH, another, but I don't think I'll go for them I hear tell someone back east is already frying up those 17 year cicadids (sp) or some one else is covering them in ..You can get them with either milk chocolate or dark chocolate..I'll pass on that one too.
Now some mud bugs from down La, or Arkansas way I could go for.
Anyway folks, hang on to your wallet this week if you head out to get some sort of meat fixins.
Just saying!!!!!
