IMO An Incidence Of An Eye Popping Lack Of Corporate Ethics At Smith & Wesson

I'm happy I have the firearms I require

Your story is likely not an isolated one. I fear S&W has jumped the shark.

.44 Magnum is my personal limit anyway. Thanks for sharing!!!

If the new Hi-Viz front sight fixes the problem I would send the original front sight and the receipt for the new one by certified letter to the CEO of S&W describing the problem and how you had to buy a after market front sight to fix the problem.

Sure the certified letter will cost a few bucks but S&W may reimburse you for the Hi-Viz sight along with the satisfaction of rattling the CEO's day. It may well (probably most likely) be the CEO and Corporate don't know about this problem. I have worked for a large corporation and can tell you from experience that middle level managers will try to prevent bad news and problems from reaching higher level.

Well this forum keeps record of the bad and not so much the good luvsmiths, it is heavily tilted towards problems as people seek solutions, and away from celebrating awesome. I did write the EVP of S&W at two different e-Mail addresses.

This is hardly something worthy of civil litigation, and as an internet post of what someone else told me that someone else said is double hear-say. And, even if you got behind the hearsay to a source, the manufacturer could argue any number of reasons for the error while discrediting the employee who made the statement, including an argument that the statement was never made.

Nor does anything in this thread provide anyone fodder for other litigation. Regarding the second point, the legal burden to go from these posts to connecting them with liability for a shooting is foolishness.

To reasonable people you make a lot of sense, but the anti-gun crowd successfully sued Remington and you know that they won't stop now!

Yes, I would be very upset with S&W.

I would be even more upset with myself for taking their sucker bait in the first place...

Sorry for your troubles. If in fact the CS representative was correct, that is a poor way of doing business. Knowingly putting out a substandard product is the epitome of corporate greed.

I had a 70's Husqvarna 250cc motocross bike. It was supposed to come with a 32mm carburetor. Instead, it came though with a 36mm carb that they used on their 400cc motocross. 400 jetting too. Worked fine if you were running it wide open. I took out the 400 jets and put in the 250 jets. Better, but the velocity was not right, and the low end was bad. Took forever, but I got them to give me the right carb.

Point is , same as your issue, get the product out the door, we'll deal with it later.
You have every right to be upset if this truly is the case:mad::mad:

JJEH, The basis of the Remington lawsuit had zero to do with issues in any way related to this thread. For you to say that in this thread, "you just gave the anti-gun crowd a bunch of ammo to use and continue pursuing frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers in regard to citizen involved shootings." is frankly irresponsible and takes a breathtaking lack of context regarding the basis, process, and history of the Remington suit you mention. Get your NRA card punched another way.

I'm not saying your case has anything to do with the Remington case. I'm saying that these anti-gun extremists will use anything they can to further their cause, sue us, sue manufacturers and ultimately run us into bankruptcy (and/or prison) because of cost of the legal proceeding, the verdict and/or the settlement.

So it doesn't have to be you, your comment and/or this thread for that matter. If this gunsmith' comment is true, it can be anything that happens from anyone who uses a firearm with that setup and something bad happens. Sure it's he said/she said, but we are not talking about reasonable people here. All you need is a willing attorney.

Not sure what that punched NRA card means though and I also don't know why my comment is irresponsible  I just call it how I see it.

They win one case, so they'll keep going. They ban one gun, they want to ban another one, and another one. They ban ICE vehicles; they'll start trying to ban other means of transportation. I will never stop and that's all I was trying to say :)

And I was wondering why the three Brown Bears I shot last week, while surfcasting for Salmon in Key West, died from head shots as I was aiming center mass. :D

Sight in pic measures 5/32"-.156" to center of green dot.

A clerk at Smith said firing the 200gr Hornady ammo would void the warranty of any 460s.
Another wiser clerk said to ignore the first one. :D
Gun broke after firing two of them and Smith replaced the trigger and cylinder stop.
Did the warranty work and got it back surprising fast a few years ago.

Will finish up the whites this weekend, clean out the sawdust and take the little Snow Dragon to Markham with the 8.375" for some 25/50/100 yard fun shortly.

It's events like you just described that make you just loose faith! Pathetic, sad and unacceptable!

IMHO S&W should really get their ducks in a row or sell to someone who really would like to bring the Company back to its former glory! It kills me that a Company that produced so many millions of great guns for many decades can't make much worth buying these days. The icing on the cake is that it almost seems the more money you spend (ie: PC guns) the worse they are!

I've felt your frustration, having bought several NIB firearms from mainstream brands over the last eight years, which didn't function. To avoid angst, I've changed my mindset to expect new guns to have problems, then I'm pleasantly surprised if they work correctly.

As for "Ethics", corporations have none. They have shareholders, and lawyers, and officers who satisfy the shareholders and lawyers.

Just-in-Time manufacturing in this worldwide environment of parts shortages has failed, as there are huge problems with partially built inventory awaiting parts for completion. Easy to imagine someone putting the wrong sight on a production run of 460's, just to get them out the door and on the books.

If the explanation provided is actually the case, it goes beyond simply malfeasance to reckless endangerment.

This needs to be addressed yesterday.

I'm very happy you didn't have to find out about the issue in a life threatening situation.

GUN SHOOTS GREAT W/NEW 3.10 SIGHTS. Great groups.

Thanks for everyone's concern. I have not heard back from the executive vice president of Smith & Wesson that I text about this situation.

If you have not seen this already, check it out. It's only the latest one... actually there were more after but this is the most in depth, like yours. Send this to the President too. They obviously stopped caring. Get it out the door and let the customer fix it.... if he ever figures out it's broken!
If this was posted already, please excuse me. I thought you'd like to see it.

Problem with M&P 10mm + Customer Service Nightmare

Perhaps arguably a little sexist assuming a woman is the secretary...

Not "arguably" and most definitely "sexist"...a secretary wouldn't be answering customer service phone calls.

...She was who I was connected with when asking for Performance Center customer service. And I assume the same person when the gunsmith called although I'm not sure of that.

When I called she was very knowledgeable and technically aware of exactly what I was talking about...

That sounds like the woman I spoke with just now at S&W. I'm sending my Model 65-5 there for the Combat Revolver Package, and she was professional, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions.

By the way, while I was on the phone with her, I mentioned your situation and this thead to her...she told me she was going to alert the proper people at S&W to your situation. I hope you hear from them...good luck. :)

Nice wood grips. By who? Thanks!

Made in our shop.
X Frame grip projects getting close to some extended range time.

One is for carry, somewhat ambidextrous, and the black one for hunting/long range target shooting.

First pic is left side of the white grips.
This one's right side is a variation of a Nill and I have another right side of my design that is on the RogueWave now.
Big grips with a place for both hands and wide backs.

The black one is the RogueWave and might make the escutcheon, white dot area above the current screw, look like a Tugboat surfing or Moby Dick riding the curl. ;)
