If you could move to your favorite place in the U.S. where would you go?

Hello all, I have been trying to reach member Mickey D who also lives in Salmon Idaho......anyone here know his contact info and could PM or email me? He sent me a PM several months ago, but he has not responded to my PM's and I do not have his email or phone number.

Your help is appreciated!

Sent to you Tom.

Marco Island, winter
Reno, summer

I would move to the Santa Clara Valley of California, but in the year 1950. That's when the Santa Clara Valley was filled with hundreds of square miles of orchards. Now it is filled with hundreds of square miles of concrete and asphalt.

I spent a LOT of time from 1990 to 2000 at my roommate's Grandfather's ranch just outside Lexington, Texas which is between Giddings and Rockdale on Hwy 77. A 200 acre cow ranch with a couple nice stock tanks that had catfish and bass in them. Just about the perfect size to still have a small shooting range. Of course, I cannot afford that nowadays even if I was not taking care of Mom. But if I could, I would.

A deceased coworker grew up in that area and decried the urbanization of that area.

That is an interesting spot. However, I always worry that anywhere East of San Antonio is getting into Tornado country. My wife used to live in the Dallas area, and she has no wish to return to that particular "fun".

I live in my favorite part of the world the Ozark mountains of Arkansas.
I would not want to live there full time but the Platte River country of Nebraska and points west have always interested me.

We have since the first reply moved. Bought what the wife wanted, a small house with cheaper taxes close to a hospital. We are actually farther away from a hospital, but close enough to home. Satisfied, but not as happy as could be. I'd like to just visit some of the places you guys have mentioned.
Moving is not fun when downsizing.

My favorite place would be, it doesn't really matter; as long as I am loved the way I should be.

edit to say

Lived a good life, and was blessed with some fine German Shepherds and such. God, how I miss them all.

I was fortunate in my working career to have two jobs over 24 yrs that allowed me to get to every state in the US except AK (I was there in the service). Consequently I had/have opinions about where I'd like to live. Politics don't concern me so I make my choices on other factors. I spent a lot of time between Portland the Canadian border and really like the Pac NW. This past year we were able to spend a month in the Pac NW and decided to stay where we are. One reason is financial - we could not recreate what we have here out there. The other reason is more ephemeral - every time we went there (other than working) it was for vacation or a trip for fun. After a month the magic of the vacation was over and we were ready to leave.
I'm lucky to have a brother in Maine and a sister in Oregon and will continue to live here but visit them regularly.
