This morning’s CEO assassination in NYC

i am not surprized if you want to fleece america over health costs.sooner or later you will pay for your misgivings.

When I was gainfully employed, I worked with several insurance companies and UHC was the worst by far. They would lie right to your face and do the exact opposite of what they had agreed to do. That doesn't justify murder but I can certainly understand someone being upset with them.

My wife and I briefly had United. All they did was deny claims and pay Pennie's on the dollar to providers. They were awful. The victims compensation package last year was $10.2M. United's profits in 2023 were over $22B. Yes BILLION with a B. They make money screwing policy holders who diligently pay their premiums. I wouldn't be surprised if this was related to a policy holder being wronged.

An FBI agent on Fox News this morning reported they believe the shooter had a "slide lock device" to reduce noise, so that is why he was quickly releasing the slide after each shot. There were eye witnesses apparently, so it seems strange the shooter would be concerned about firearm noise??

NYC has ShotSpotter, detects the sound of gun fire and sends an alert.

Major metro areas often have gunshot location technology that can trigger an immediate response. Use of a suppressor would mitigate against such a system. IIRC one report state NYPD's system did not detect the shots. Wits would still likely call 911, but with an additional time delay to aid in escape.

There is a high probability that the gun and suppressor were 3D printed, or at least home built (80% receiver?)... may explain the function issues.

That makes sense. While the shooter may not be a "pro", he put in a lot of thought into his escape.

If there is any positive thing that could come out of this murder, perhaps a message will be sent to other health insurance companies that cheating and denying people the health care they are paying for might be re-evaluated. Historically, the only way for humans to stop evil is to kill it. The other way evil is stopped is by God's intervention.

Pretty sure the only thing the CEOs will be re-evaluating will be their executive protection protocols...

Nothing positive ever comes from cold blooded killing . . .

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. He WILL be caught. They always are. Especially when u leave DNA and a phone. And if he was dumb enough to go into a Starbucks right before then I'm sure he was dumb enough to make other mistakes we don't know about. One think for certain, there are no shortages of people who were wronged by an insurance company. Be it health, home, auto or other. I'm sure many people reading this are among this group.

Not much known about the escape bicycle. It was not one of the rental electric Citibikes as erroneously reported earlier. And so far I can't find any news reports indicating that the bike has been identified or located. There was also a story that the shooter may have stayed in some flophouse before the shooting along with two other men. No amplification on that story either. I would like to see pictures of the fired casings with words Delay, Depose, and Defend written on them. That makes no sense at all. There was one picture showing an unfired 9mm round found at the scene. Not a very good picture, but it looks like it has a FMJ bullet.

"it is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories instead of theories to suit facts."
Sherlock Holmes to Dr. Watson in "The Sign of the Four"

This is the most accurate post in this entire thread! If everyone thought this way there would only be a very few replies added to the original post. The level of many of the replies is "childish" at best, and just plain ridiculous at worst :mad:
