Late 2024 I purchased a Police Trade in Model 64-5 from AIM. It was bank vault tight but pretty darn dirty. Cleaned up nicely. I was curious what Agency these 64's served ? I emailed AIM but haven't received a response. FYI mine had no Department markings. AIM's website reflected that these were all from State side departments. IIRC they had 64-5 thru 64-8 (?)...

Thank you,

rick

I have the same model. Mine was through a LGS. Mine has C.A.I. import markings. I was told a letter from Smith and Wesson would trace it's sale
I know mine is a LE overseas trade in. Mine is a bobbed hammer and DAO

A Smith letter might tell you the agency but it more than likely will just tell you the wholesaler it went to. It's a $100 bet if you want to take it. Sellers of police trade ins are often very cagey about where they came from. Anything from overseas will be a complete guess, I've never seen CAI identify their source. A few agencies stamp their guns but that seems to be the exception.

I picked up one of the 64-6s directly from AIM. Mine was covered in the usual expected scuffs and the grips were worn to the point of being useless. Mine had no department markings either and I'm not sure where it came from but I think it might have come from Mars. The interior and exterior were covered in a very fine reddish sandy dirt/dust. There was quite a bit of the dirt down inside the action but it cleaned up well. I finally got to the range and it seems to be perfectly regulated for the 158 gr loads I was using and it shoots very well.

My Model 10 came from CAI. Member Michael Helms was able to pull up the original invoice. It shipped to the Director of Public Security, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 1978.
