One drawback of being a lefty is the lack of gas pedals(thumb rests) for not only my BG 2.0 but also my Sig P365 and Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS. So decided to fabricate them for all three. The solution was actually easier than I expected.

Using JB Weld black epoxy I built up a 1/2" ridge that I then carved and sanded into a gas pedal. The black epoxy once sanded looks a lot like the polymer of the frames and it bonded to the polymer frames perfectly.

The last step was to use my heat gun and insert the pistols into my various holsters and hit the right sides of the holsters with the heat gun while sliding the pistols in and out. That allowed the Kydex to stretch and formed a slight channel for the thumb rest so the guns slide in and out with the same retention as before.IMG_8247.jpegIMG_8232.jpeg

I'm VERY impressed with your innovation and craftsmanship. No reason why we should settle for what some designer thought was best for us when we can change it. Nicely done!

An admiring right hander.

Why has a firearm manufacturer NOT considered a "gas pedal" and offered it as an option?
Or is it too uncommon?

it would keep me from buying it, so I'm guessing there are others like me. My thumbs stay off the frame.

"My thumbs stay off the frame."

Perhaps my grip is wrong?? o_O Both my thumbs are on the frame!!
I don't think there is a right/wrong, there is what works for you. My first pistol instruction was from a national champ bullseye competitor, her take was leave the thumb free because it's too easy to push to the side. That said, modern combat tactics are changing and if it works for you then do it. But there is no way after all my rounds downrange that I'm going to change how I hold my thumbs.

Since there are many after market polymer grip frames I'm surprised no one offers a grip Frame with a gas pedal molded in, both LH and RH.
