Anyone that has had it applied to your new vehicle, what do you think of it. Was it worth the money because it certainly isn't cheap. I've done a lot of research on it and from what I have found is this is a Glass Resin finish that is applied over the clear coat to seal and protect the paint from numerous paint hazards. It's not a wax or polymer finish. Its very hard durable finish that resist scratches. Theres lots of videos on YouTube. One of my biggest concerns is how it's applied. Dealer says they put it on out back. Out back were, in the shop, yup. In the shop were theres somthing going on in every bay. door opening and closing, cars driving in and out, etc. If anything at all is left on the finish before its applied its permanently under the finish. I would think this stuff should be applied in an isolated room with filtered ventilation to prevent contamination during the process. It's no different than painting. The other concern is what happens if you get a ding in the door? The kind that normally can be pulled out without having to do any major repair like filling, sanding, and painting. These small dings that don't damage the paint can be removed at a fraction of what it cost for a full repair and it usually is undetectable that there was ever a ding. So what happens to this Glaas Coat Resin when you get a ding? Does it flex or crack? Can they repair the ding like normal with this Glass Coat finish? What about touching up this Glass Coat, does it show? You see what I'm getting at, theses are questions I haven't heard answers to. If the car ever needs to have body repairs they reapply to those areas. If the finish has any damage to it caused from the Glass Coat failing they repair it at no cost to you. The interior is treated with a Teflon to protect seats, carpeting, etc against any stains, same thing applies to the interior, you pay nothing. Basically it's an insurance policy to protect against any damage this stuff is suppose to protect against and the list of things is a long one. Anyone have any experiencec with this stuff. The Dealers rave about it and from what I understand are making a big profit on it.

A reformed car salesman working for my credit union's car-buying service had nothing nice to say about such products. If they really worked to protect automotive finishes, you would expect to see them in common use in other applications, such as protecting architectural metal coatings, signs, marine finishes, etc., and you don't.

I got sucked in on my truck. It was my first New truck so I spluged for it. They oversprayed all over my headlights & windsheild.

I had to use rubbing compound to get it off.

Then a year or so later I had a bird poop on my hood while I was working. I went to the carwash as soon as I got off work and cleaned it off. there was a noticable spot where the poo had been. I took it back to the dealer and explained what happened. They had guaranteed that this would not happen. They said the next day that it must have been there before cause they couldn't fix it.

So no, don't bother with it.

Now the vinal wrap for the front end does work well. My wife has it on her car and 2 years later not one stone chip and you can wipe bugs right off even afer a couple days. You can see it in when you look just right, but well worth it if you don't like your front end all chiped up.

Like 90% of the stuff you get from a dealer you can get the same stuff applied by a local installer for half the cost.
A friend of mine has made a decent living installing a product like "Protecto-Plate", he has put it on every new vehicle I have owned and since I rarely wash my vehicles and mine is always parked outside it is amazing how well the finish stands up, especially bird****, even that stuff doesn't leave marks on the finish. I usually sell my vehicles after 10 years and most people that buy them remark at how nice the finish is.
All the **** the salesman tries to sell you if you are smart and thrifty you can get it installed privately for less, including running boards, spare tire carriers, roof racks, bug shields, all that ****...do it yourself for less...none of it has anything to do with your warranty unless you have to mess with the suspension of a perfectly good vehicle.
