I was in the local Bass Pro today, the Mother Ship in Springfield, MO. The handgun case was almost empty. 2 or 3 Glock models, same for S&W, a few more XD's, had several wheelguns & 1911's. I'd say 80% of the display inventory gone. Anyone else noticed this? I can't believe they can't get handguns. Suppose they are getting out of the handgun market?

Not that I've noticed in the local regional distribution center near me. But, I haven't been in there in the last month. Generally their prices here are rather high compared to Academy or other LGS.

Shoe Tage of guns

I've applied for my pistol permit here in NY and went to buy a gun. Only 1 store had the s&w shield in a 40. Lots of empty shelves. Unknown time frame to get deliveries from distributors. Mostly shortages of ccw pistols like glock, s&w and walthers.

Same with my LGS. Lots of consignment stuff, but hardly any new handguns on display. I thought it was just a reduction of,inventory for tax purposes, but now I'm not ao sure.

It's election year on top of 8 years of an anti-gun president, with the likelihood of the election of another anti-gun president, plus it's tax return time.

People are buying up everything they can.

My sentiments exactly. Could be a huge run on guns the closer we get to the election. Hope my fears are false

I greedily hope you're right because I have a few with 15 round mags I'd like to sell. They'll be like gold! In my heart though, I'd give up making a profit to have a pro-gun President.

I window shop only at Bass Pro. #1 Bass is always to high on prices. I. always have bought guns at the smaller local shops better prices, better experience, and attiuteds.
I was at Bass last month. It looked very well stocked .

I was curious so went into the Macon, GA Bass Pro today......full stock of handguns at their 'usual' prices. Did get a couple of 325 bricks of Fed Match 22LR and a pound of Universal powder. :)

Feb 2016 was the 3rd highest month ever for FBI background checks...

Dec-Feb saw about 9 million checks...

Some guns are in very short supply...

Many expect this trend to continue for at least the rest of 2016...

This anti GUN and anti country President , should never get in I hope you go VOTE. America cant take 4 years of her

increased demand and also order fulfillment from shotshow. it typically gets low this time of year. usually takes 30-60 days for manufacturers to catch up to all the new orders.

The king of the hill in "big store" gun sales is Gander Mountain and their store near me is well stocked.

There are newly constructed stores of their competitors near me: Cabelas, Field Stream, Bass Pro. Those competitors have half of the retail space dedicated to guns that Gander Mountain has.

My LGS is packed all weekend long. Firearms Sales Representative Obama has guns flying off the shelves.
Same here. My LGS also has an indoor range, was there last night, packed. On the weekend you need to reserve ahead of time or you're not shooting...

It should be well stocked. At their prices I'm surprised that anyone buys from them. In 2014, I wanted to buy a SIG P250sc .380 for my wife. Only Gander Mountain and a hole-in-the-wall LGS I'd never done business with offered them for sale in my area. The LGS had it for substantially less than SIG's MSRP. Gander's price was $100 above SIG's MSRP. Since that P250 was in low demand, I figured Gander would match prices, so I went there first. The manager of the firearms department said their policy was to never match prices. When I pointed out their price was also well above SIG's MSRP, he said that that was what Gander corporate wanted to sell it for, and there was nothing he could do. I left, took my chances, and bought it from the hole-in-the-wall LGS. Cabela's, on the other hand, readily matches their brick-and-mortar competitors' prices. I don't know how Gander Mountain stays in business with their pricing policies. I have three Academy stores, a Cabela's, and a Gander Mountain within 30 minutes of my house. I go to Gander Mountain only as a last resort.
