2017: Colt's re-entry into the revolver market

Here's a 1932 Colt New Service .45 Colt. When I lettered it Colt sent me my money back and a letter saying there was no info on this gun which happens sometimes. But consensus here some years back with more close up pictures was that the finish is original. Grips should be checkered wood with medallions, though. But I like these better.

The new colt revolvers are supposed to have a much more refined action. There is one area is it cold could definitely put Smith & Wesson on notice. If they produce a 3 inch .357 magnum with fixed sights, i.e. just like the Cobra but in .357 magnum with one more inch of barrel then they would be pooping in tall cotton!

How many of us Smith and Wesson owners have been bemoaning the demise of 3 inch K frames? The latest 2.75 inch model 66 is a step in the right direction however, it has fully adjustable sights with a very tall front sight. Not quite the fixed sight 3 inch barrel K frame that Smith and Wesson fans have been calling for.... So with that said, a six shot D frame 357 magnum with an end user replaceable front sight would be awesome!

I do realize that simply shortening the barrel on the new model 66 is done to save time and expense. But, it is hardly what people have been wanting. I posted a rant about that very thing on this form sometime ago telling Smith & Wesson produce the 3" Mod 65 again with the new parts and a removable front sight.

As some of you know, I accumulate both S&W and Colt revolvers.
I was at the NRA Eastern Outdoors Show yesterday. I got to handle the new Cobra. It is a very attractive revolver. After market wood stocks are in the works from Herrett's and, I think, Eagle.

It has a superb D.A. trigger pull. You will be amazed.
