A most disquieting experience.

When I see the same car full of young male strangers (white, brown, purple) driving slow and looking carefully at houses, driveways, porches, etc., circle four times, it's time for a non-emergency call to the sheriff. Porch larcenies, burglaries, and people scoping areas to commit these are just part of life today. People digging stuff out of the big public dumpster to a) see if Amazon or MidwayUSA sent something valuable b) to a specific person at a specific address is a common tactic as well.

Stealing can be a lot of work, but at least it's not employment./s

Nothing racist about it. Anyone or group in a vehicle that circles an area, cruising at 5 MPH and returning several times with no apparent purpose should cause concern no matter their race. This is based on my articulable training and experience indicative of criminal activity afoot, as clearly defined in 1961 Terry v.Ohio. It constitutes “Reasonable Suspicion” as clarified in that case by the Supreme Court. Therefore it justifies a “Terry Stop”. Legal, according to the Constitution and the actions of both the Complainant and subsequently the Police are legit and No, Zero racism is/was involved! 🇺🇸👮🏻‍♂️👍🏻

I could probably call the Police several times a day. It's getting out of had around here.
Glad the are rounding them up!
I hear ya brother! We are finally getting out of SW Florida after more than 25 years sometime in the next few months to some acreage up in Grady Judd’s neighborhood and I cannot wait!

"In spite of the shock that Snowball's expulsion had given them, the animals were dismayed by this announcement. Several of them would have protested if they could have found the right arguments. Even Boxer was vaguely troubled. He set his ears back, shook his forelock several times, and tried hard to marshal his thoughts; but in the end he could not think of anything to say. Some of the pigs themselves, however, were more articulate. Four young porkers in the front row uttered shrill squeals of disapproval, and all four of them sprang to their feet and began speaking at once. But suddenly the dogs sitting round Napoleon let out deep, menacing growls, and the pigs fell silent and sat down again."

"Then the sheep broke out into a tremendous bleating of "Four legs good, two legs bad!" which went on for nearly a quarter of an hour and put an end to any chance of discussion." - Orwell, Animal Farm.

Four people in an apparent beater car driving through a quiet residential neighborhood at 5 mph, and repeatedly? What's racist about that? That should be suspicious.

But, then, anybody driving past my house at 5mph draws my attention.

Yesterday I assumed my position on the porch swing. Around mid afternoon Ruthie was at Wal-Mart, Logan was across town doing a large lawn job and JR was inside creating yet another art masterpiece.

I heard the sound of a kicker box thumping coming towards me. It was an old beat up light gray Honda Civic occupied by four young people from south of the border. They crept up the street at 5mph. I thought it odd.

20 minutes later they came back crawling at the same speed. My spidey sense went off. I believe they were casing the neighborhood for open garage doors, porch packages or other targets of opportunity.

I went inside and grabbed my little pocket companion, my LCP.

30 minutes later they came back. I didn't brandish but I stood up and glared at them. They sped up and took off.

Today, an hour hour after I assumed my porch stationary and they came back. I called the police and related my experience with a description of the car and occupants.

They thanked me for my concern and said they would notify and give the description to all their patrol officers to have them identify themselves and see what they are up to.

I got a call a little while ago from the police. That spotted them, pulled them over and asked for ID. Surprise, surprise they were here illegally.

ICE, ICE baby!
Soon after DHS/ICE was officially hatched in 2003, agents wearing the new raid jackets "ICE POLICE" during a Florida Hurricane, were mistaken over and over for ICE Vendors.... What you gonna do, it's America.
