Annoyed at thread drift

Some busy driftin this afternoon, kept checking in during the day in case some Friday the 13th action kicked in. I guess I am going to have to quit watching the news because the slanted reporting is going to cause me to have a major blowout! News flash! Facebook is slanted to the liberals. I never would have guessed. Drift on.

May 13, 1945 was a Sunday, not a Friday. The men on the Yolo just keep doing their job. A lot of folks on shore and at sea have it much harder. Back to Homer Bast's notes.

May 13, 1945

From midnight until dawn Yolo was at flash red and covered with smoke. Despite that, provisions were loaded throughout the night. At 0700 the last load of fresh provisions was brought on board; these last for about two weeks. An hour later issues to small craft were made. So it goes, with supplies handled through the bow doors onto a conveyor belt that runs the length of the tank deck. Each refrigerator is designated to hold certain items. Once stowed, the provisions are moved to the topside via hatches and passed by hand to the waiting vessels.

No church services were held for the chaplain did not come out from the beach. Strolled about the deck this morning and with little wind it was delightful. The walks give me an opportunity to talk with the men and learn what they are thinking. Between 1850 and 2030 some 35 aircraft attacked the ships off the coast. Picket destroyer Bache (DD 470) was hit by a suicider killing 41 and wounding 42. The crew extinguished the fire in short order and the ship was towed to Kerama. Some 25 aircraft dropped bombs on Okinawa but failed to damage installations. Eighteen enemy were downed by CAP and the pickets. Bogeys were active during the night and several closed to five miles, where they were brought under fire.

Computer problem turned out to be with my ISP. Everything normal today.

Had an ultrasound of the arteries in my legs today. Interesting and uncomfortable experience. A blood pressure cuff on each arm, four on each leg, and one on each big toe. Some of the leg cuffs were pretty damn painful when really cranked up.

Being old is such fun. Tired tonight and not thrilled by the test results, but what the hell, I'm 78. Things wear out and clank up.

Zagged,
That sounds painful.
Four on each leg.......Owwwwww.
Heck i don't like when they do the old one arm cuff
and the nurse is in a bad mood or something.
It's like, OK, OK, that's tight enough now release the
darn pressure will ya'.
Glad to hear it's not getting ya' down sir.
Keep on Keepin' on !!!

Well it's Friday the thirteenth.
We're gettin' ready to head on out to the Y.
Hmm, Should we take the little Yaris 'cause it's more maneuverable or the big Dodge Ram truck 'cause it can take a bigger hit?
Either way, we're gonna start with spin class and I'm ready with my spandex bike shorts and matching tank top.

Out of Paw Paw this photo is leaked of Snubby
training at the Y.

But a bison story!
A number of years ago some friends and my wife and I were camped in our LQ horse trailers at French Creek horse camp in Custer State Park. Bison roam freely in this area and wander through the camp whenever they want to!
A buddy and I stayed up late, midnight or so, by the campfire while the rest went to bed. A beer or two was involved. Tom reached in the cooler by our chairs and handed me another. He said suddenly, don't pop the top! Freeze!! I heard a grunt and a big bull walked by us about 10' or so away! He stopped as did our hearts! He stared awhile, lowered his head and munched some grass, chewed his cud, passed some fragrance, and continued eating. You could hear his stomach rumbling, his munching, and our hearts beating! He finally moved off, and Tom said "Beer or hard stuff?" We must have went the chaser route as we awoke in the chairs at daylight! We measured the tracks distance from our chairs at 10', and then started picking up cans and a bottle to minimize friction from the spouses. Did not succeed at either! Saw the bull lying in the grass about 100yds. away at the tree line with two other of his buddies nearby.

Same thing happened to myself and two buddies at Yellowstone
Park about ten years ago. We stayed in one of their "primitive"
cabins located on the grounds of the park. (Bed, Showers,
and not much else).
Parked the truck beside the cabin first evening after supper at
the Big lodge. Got out of the truck and a big Bull walks
right down the dirt/gravel road 10-15 feet from us.
I didn't know enough about them to be scared. I just thought
of them as a "western cow". He paid us no mind and kept going
in the direction he wanted to go.

It's Been A Great Day! So Far?

We got everything set up at the Good Guys Car show. I had bought a new easy up tint thing a month ago just for car shows. Never thought about opening the box to make sure everything was there? And yep, it was ! Thank Goodness! Got a little sun burnt, but it was a nice breezy 78 degree day.

Forum member got into a bidding war on my Rohm 22short Revolver. And I ended up getting $1111 and a mini 14. So not bad for a fine collectors item.

I didn't get spanked by a Monkey With a Black Cat? And my Bank was open, after all.

Had a Great lunch with wifey at a Applebee's. I tried some kind of all in burger with their freshly fried potato chips. It was good. And she was even nice to me?? Scared me a little. But I could get used to it.

So all in all a GREAT Day! Made home safe and sound driving the CRAZY Train and fixing to kick back and Aloe Up!

I Hope everyone else had a Safe And Productive Day!

Friday even though it is the13th has been pretty good so far.
Dinner was local made brats steamed in beer with dijon mustard for garnish. Side dish was Bush's baked grilling beans. No buns to keep the carbos down, but great dinner anyway! Marie Callender Key Lime pie for dessert! 🌴
Grandson called to thank me for the new 5wt. flyrod , reel, and travel case we got him.
He has just turned 12 in Jan. and it was time for him to put a little culture 😉 in his fishing! Get him ready for our annual trip to the Black Hills. Told him that he needed to learn to tie flies to his hooks! Got a nice giggle back 😆 I have been putting together a travel fly fishing kit so he can learn about fly tying in the evenings while we are camping.
12 was when I really got into fly fishing! 😎

Then to top it off, got a notice that somebody in the Ukraine thinks I am cute! All I have to do is click a link and will get pictures, and contact info! I am blessed! 👑 Will keep everyone informed as to how that goes! 🌋 ⚡ 🐍
