How about a cold beer and a little Shuffleboard while the jukebox plays!

Earlier today I posted a rant in the lounge...that was a big mistake! I should have posted it here. I was looking for just a little sympathy; I should have looked in the Funk & Wagnall's or in Webster's unabridged. I don't think that the people in this thread would have been so unsympathetic. Next time, I'll know better!
I can understand that. Anymore, I post stuff to share with my drift buddies.

Babysitting or anything.....

I'm in a bit of a funk.
There's a local resort I go to for physical therapy. There are some residents that live in a little community there.
On Monday I went in for water aerobics and the instructor never showed up. One of the other residents came in and told us what happened.
A family that lived there had gone to Florida for the week and hired somebody to house sit. That person was also supposed to take care of their dogs.
Apparently, she didn't do a very good job.
One of the dogs was weak from heat stroke. As it lay there dying, small animals started eating into it's innards.
The aerobics instructor and some others rushed it to the vet. but it was too late and it had to be put down.
What an absolutely horrific way to go.

It's extremely difficult to find anyone with ANY sense of responsibility nowadays. I told a pet sitter one time, "Don't feed the animals on the front porch because other animals will come and take their food." I probably don't have to write anymore but isn't that a REALLY simple instruction?:mad::mad: That is really terrible about the poor dog.:(:(:(

BTW What kind of small animals are we talking about. Coons, Possums?

I'm actually feeling kinda proud of myself.
Back when my neuropathy first started, there was a drastic drop in my activity level and I ended up gaining 60 pounds. The doctors were ready to plop me in a wheelchair.
Since then, I've relearned to walk using the muscles that still work but stepping off of curbs still presents a unique challenge and I've dropped some of the weight.
The challenge's been to readjust my diet and increase my activity level. Keeping in mind that I intend to stay as healthy as possible.
My weight went from a fit 170 to a squishy, flabby 230.
My first goal was to get to 200 pounds. After that it was 190 and today I hit it. As a reward, we're planning on going to Ruby Tuesday and after a light meal, I'm gonna have a dessert of chocolate cherry cheesecake.
Then it's back to the diet.
Originally, I just wanted to get some of the weight off. Now I'm thinking I wanna be the healthiest, fittest, pathetic, gimpy, useless cripple I can be.

Now that post^^^^ is just about the coolest post ever! A huge congratulations Snubby on this wonderful accomplishment. I KNOW how hard it was to do because I did it. Went from 244 to 170 about 15 years ago but now I've crept up to 200 and am working real hard to get back to 180. Try to make your diet a way of life, where you don't think of your diet as a diet. Just consider stuff like sugar and fat to be poison and don't eat them.

Anyway, I'm REALLY happy for your accomplishment.

Good for you Snubby! Since my bout with cancer my weight dropped and I've been holding it where I want it to be!
I would like to drop another 5lbs.but I won't cry in my beer if I don't lose it! ;)

Here Snubby I believe this goes with your music!

I know the conundrum, radiation, chemo and multiple surgeries have wrecked my joints (not those joints). Activity = pain meds or pain. Inactivity = weight gain and weakness/atrophy.

Every day is a struggle but one I cheerfully accept. I haven't been granted much more time so every day is like a trip to Chuck E. Cheese. If I make it through the ball crawl, I get cardboard pizza and skunkie beer.:)

Looks like I'm going into one of those phases where I'm losing everything. I put stuff in "safe" places and then can't find it. This will be followed by the phase where I give up looking and buy replacements.

Of course then comes the phase where everything starts turning up in places I looked several times.

Sigh...

Not to worry!
I always find what I'm looking for in the last place I look:D:rolleyes::D
