Do you pick up horseshoe nails in your car tires? I'd get flats every few months in Lancaster County, PA.

So far no horse shoe nails ! After my wife shoes the horses we run a big magnet around to pick up the nail points clipped off ! But as I do the city building inspections I get 3 or 4 nails a year, most likely from being on sites. When we were doing the downtown street and utility work several years ago we found a lot of horseshoes, metal buggy parts, etc.buried as deep as 5'. The town is from about 1840 or so.

Good Morning Driftears And Driftettes!

I hope everyone is ready for a Great Week ahead!

It's supposed to be Beautiful all week here the Lovely Middle Tennessee! High in the mid 80's but slightly humid as always.

Allot going on here in Nashville and the surrounding areas this coming weekend.

The CMA Fan Fest (Fan Fair) is this coming weekend! All the top name Country Music Stars will be here and performing! It shuts Downtown Nashville completely down with stages and concerts. But it generates allot of revenue for Nashville! But traffic is a nightmare..

And I know y'all will be excited about Bonnaroo in neighboring Manchester Tennessee. Also this coming weekend! Bonnaroo is always a Fun Feast. Of well, let's just say Psychedlic's and Love! A Modern day Woodstock! And How the tiny Manchester Police Dept and the County collect 90% of their yearly budget funds for the complete year in just one week! It's what keeps their Drug Sniffing K9's very busy! At least 1-2 overdose deaths every year, fun fun fun to be had by everyone! It shuts I-24 east from Nashville down for days. But generates allot of revenue for the local Bondsmen!

So this week, we have entertainment for the over 40 crowd in Nashville and excitement for the over 20 crowd in Manchester Tn.

So allot to look forward too!

So I hope everyone has a Wonderful week! Stay safe and enjoy yourself if you come to Bonnaroo! Or The CMA Feast!

Lived in this neighborhood my entire life and never once picked up a horseshoe nail, more like roofing nails and sheet metal screws! ;)

I had never seen that type of nail before. The guy who repaired my tires said they were horseshoe nails. He thought that some Amish kids threw them on the roadways to make mischief.

This was in New Holland.

Very familiar with New Holland! ;)
Those are the only horseshoe nails that I know of? ;)

The picture is what they were pulling from my tire. I meant that until the repair guy pulled the nail and showed it to me, I had never seen a horseshoe nail.

Funny thing about New Holland. I rented a guest house from Mennonites that said they did not have a key to lock the door. Occasionally, when I returned after work, I would find about a dozen Amish and Mennonite children sitting in the bedroom watching the TV I brought with me. They were well behaved (if you don't count the trespass), neat, and would quietly file out when I got home. Surreal.

Anytime after rain or a rain storm. All kinds of stuff gets washed out of pickup truck beds and ends up on roadways. All types of nails, screws, bolts ETC. There is a local Tire store I deal wit, has a Display of strange things they have pulled out of tires when they fixed or replaced the tire. One I found interesting is a half of a 30-06 shell casing and even horse shoe nails.

Perfect Scary Movie?

That would have scared the Living Hell out of me, the first time I walked in on them!

Something from the Twilight Zone! :D

Staying in rainy South Carolina, listening to the rain on the coach and arranging and rearranging and consolidating. Hopefully this will make things easier, but practice is needed to learn to optimize available space, or non-existence thereof.

It did startle me the first time. And it was Twilight Zoneish, the way the oldest girl, maybe 16, quickly mumbled something to the kids and they all stood and silently marched past me with no eye contact.

The weather person on TV is predicting this new tropical storm to cross northern Florida, and go north along the east coast. If your heading further north, you might consider jumping over to I-81.

Happy trails and good luck. :)

Were on the opposite side of the state, and it's not raining here.

I been saying this all the time, I never seen chicken so tender. Ever notice when a Chinese food place opens up the cats in the neighborhood disappear? Sometimes I wonder if any of these places make deals with local shelters? Lol. But seriously what makes that chicken so tender and it's so white.

Tire warning light came on a few months back. Pulled scissors out of one of the rear tires.

Scissors.

Oops,,,, misread the original! ;)
Yes the Amish and the Mennonites, they are what they are but they are hard workers and they do mostly stick to themselves.
Even living where I do I don't fully understand all the different sects and lifestyles.

Hey Qball,,,,Happy National Sweden Day!!!

How to Shoe a Horse: 13 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow

When you shoe a horse, you drive the nail so that it comes out of the hoof about a third of the way or so up from the shoe. You bend the nail over forming a hook, which you flatten out slightly. This what secures the nail and the shoe. See step 4 of the link posted.
If you pull the nail out without filing this hook off it creates a bigger hole than the nail!
Theoretically there is no point remaining. But if you have the hoof in your hands and on your leg, and the horse jerks it away, it can create some or lots of blood, harsh words, etc.
My wife's vocabulary suddenly increases about this time, and I find someplace else to be!
Never make a woman with hoof nippers, hammers, large files, and round pieces of metal mad at you!! Nippers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
