For Beer Time today I wanted something simple straight from the can. From SABMiller Brewing, brewed in Ft Worth, Texas I am having a good old Miller High Life in the new Heritage Can. Fine beer at a fair price. For those that are not aware, the SAB stands for South African Breweries. SABMiller is headquartered in London. Among other breweries they own Miller and Coors.

Cheers!

I don't know what to do. My wife's torturing me.
We're gonna go on a bit of a road trip tomorrow to visit her Dad for Father's Day.
Today she's baking an apple pie.
It just smells so freakin' good. And here I am, on a diet.
Now we're gonna be smelling it all the way down the road.
I might just have to have a cheat day tomorrow. Don't think I'm gonna be able to pass up a piece of fresh baked apple pie.

I just remembered, Italian Father, Italian Father's Day celebration.
Yup, it's gonna be a cheat day.

Back in 1945 on this date the USS Yolo is still off the invasion beaches of Okinawa. Here are C. Homer Bast's comments for that date.

June 18, 1945

The news of the day - the smoke boat personnel departed to take up quarters on shore. They were proud of their unkempt personal condition and refused to clean their quarters. The two officers in charge planned to leave the same way! Our officers stood over them to see that they obeyed our petty officers. A reason for the selection of these men was that the transports found them difficult to handle and pawned them off to us for the smoke duty.

Had steak and fries for lunch; a good meal. While at the show a message was received to get under way immediately and prepare to load from a reefer. Waves were running high and the wind was blowing hard. I saw no reason for moving this late and requested a delay, which was granted.
