Hasn't amounted to much yet. We'll see what happens overnight.
Fireworks outlet in town sells the aerial boomers to the public with a signed waiver stating the end use is for "signaling" purposes. Very popular place as evidenced by the increasing volume from outdoors. We're a block from a Seminole Indian ballfield where any excuse is a good one for the pyrotechnic display expected shortly.
Old Miss Mutt has her doggy downer dose, a couple Yuenglings are on ice, the burgers are consumed and mayhap I'll lift a small glass of Crown Royal, me no care if it's Canadian, in my own humble tribute to those who sacrificed so much in the name of freedom.

It's coming on dark soon and the neighborhood already smells like the firing range.
It's always crazy in my neighborhood. I can watch bunches of fireworks from my porch. Some people spend some serious money around here.
My dogs don't like it much. Take care of yours. Extra belly scratches and such.

Bought that one in 2005. I have two other '67s in the barn, one has a bad body that I bought just for the drivetrain. The other one is the one I first owned right out of high school in 1974 and sold in 1978 and bought again in 1996. The plan was to make one running car out of those two but then I found a decent runner and haven't done anything with the other two.

I dropped one of those 400 transmissions on my foot. Danged transfer case put it off balance a bit. I was lucky not to have lost my toes.
One day a father gets out of work, and on his way home he suddenly remembers that it's his daughter's birthday.
He dashes over to a toy shop and asks the sales person: "how much for one of those Barbies in the display window?"
The salesperson returns: "which one do you mean, Sir?

You wouldn't know fireworks are illegal in CT by what's going on in my neighborhood.
Time flies. 985 to 1032! Wow, gang! Some heavy duty Driftin' happenin' in my absence,
which to my shock, is nearly a month.
Missed y'all. Been busy with home and garden projects.
I'll post some garden pics. As soon as I take some.
It's back to work tomorrow, so I'm not gonna stay too long.
I'm not sure I want to even guess how long it'd take me to ketchup.
Just wanted to let y'all know I'm OK. Drifter's OK.
Hope all is well with all of you.
I'll try to make time to Drift more often.

This evening I read ahead on the Captain's Diary and will wrap things up this week. I pulled out a file I have of correspondence with Homer Bast and others that I accumulated in 2004 - 2006. I noticed in an article I have a copy of, from The Roanoke Times dated 8/26/2004. C. Homer Bast and two other WW-II vets are featured.
This is about Homer... "He's the first man I ever saw speed walk, outside of the Olympics. At the University of Virginia he held a mile relay record for the state for about 25 years - on cinder track," Snead said. "And he preached good sermons, too" (summers at St. Paul's and on the road for the Lutherans).
I'll dedicate a mile of each of my morning walks this week to Homer.

Drink up. The Continental Army drew much needed support from Canada, among other nations.
Drink to Infantry Commander – Brigadier General (Brevet) Moses Hazen. As result of his confirmed loyalty and demonstrated military leadership, Congress commissioned him Colonel of the 2nd Canadian Regiment. This unit became known as "Hazen's Own" and initially consisted of like-minded Canadians interested in independence from Britain but eventually soldiers were recruited from other sources. The 2nd Canadian fought at the battles of Staten Island, Brandywine and Germantown. At Brandywine, Hazen's Regiment was part of the American right that held fast when the rest of the American front fled the battlefield. During the Yorktown campaign, Hazen commanded the 2nd Brigade of Lafayette's Light Division.

Back in Distant Drums RV Resort, Camp Verde, AZ, USofA, after a swing south and back to spend two days with my stepson. Much catching up was done. Much mountain driving was done. The A/C has been working away since 1630 local time and Timmber Wolf the Wonder Coach is still not cooled off. Refrigerator by Dometic has stopped. Manual is inadequate, will call support in the morning and arrange local service if necessary. Owning an RV is not for the weak.
