Back in the 60's a friends mother worked at a packing company and would bring home big boxes of hot dogs to eat. The funny part is she would not eat one after seeing them made.

My hot dog would have mustard, ketchup, jalapeno relish, onions, chili & cheese, and a liberal serving of cole slaw over the whole deal. The first time I had it this way was in Arkansas, & I thought it would be sickening, but it was quite tasty! You have to eat it with a fork...yum!

I had one like that at an area fair a few years ago. Very tasty.
My wife missed out, she doesn't like onions or cole slaw.

A girlfriend of mine years ago loved hot dogs.....
until she started dating a guy that was a federal
packing plant inspector. He told her they were made from what was swept up off the packing house floor. Not too far from the truth.

Seriously, yellow mustard only - and LOTS of it. When it gets a bit colder outside and the infamous Brisket Chili gets made, some of that spooned over a couple of 'dogs is also acceptable.
While my favorite hotdog joint left standing is The Weiner Circle in Chicago, the Chicago Dog itself is an abomination - Ketchup, mustard, onion, tomato, green relish, pickle spear, three hot peppers, and a dash of celery salt.
For me it's a Hoffman German frank with spicy brown mustard and onions, but recently I have discovered "Woelers" jalapeño mustard and I've been adding it to everything from Italian sausage samitches to red potato salad!!

I like hot dogs, and this old Tennessee boy loves fried chicken, but that is a marriage made in hell. And I know about marriages made in hell.
Also, ketchup on a hot dog strikes me as somehow immoral, but that could be because over sixty years ago I ate hot dogs with ketchup not knowing that I was coming down with a violent intestinal flu at the time.
The only mustard I use on hot dogs, burgers or smoked sausage is Mister Mustard. Love that stuff.

You mean she doesn't like onions period, or just raw on hot dogs?
I had some of that mustard and it is good...I haven't seen it in a while though.
Raw or cooked on anything.
Onion powder, onion flavoring or spring onions sure.
Just not chopped onions, she doesn't like the texture.
In fact she's gonna use onion soup mix in my Bison meatloaf.

That's interesting. My sister is kind of the same way. She strains my Marinara sauce so that it won't have any bell pepper, onions, celery or mushrooms. She likes the flavor but not the texture. Myself, I want the sauce as chunky as possible.
