Question is "who here would let an unknown contractor into YOUR home armed". Implication is you would be home to "let" them in![]()
We really need a photo of the young woman in question to make an informed decision.
Many here depending on the photo may change their mind on hiring or not hiring this young lady to work a party depending on what she is packing.
Though if you are worried about the mere sight of a gun as Bam-Bam describes, that's another matter. The handwringing and hoplophobia over the mere sight of a gun has been beat to death in OC threads.

The girl replies it's OK because she open carries.
While generally I am an open carry supporter I have to ask if in this situation where you're in a room full of drunk people (IMO) it's only a matter of time before someone decides to get stupid over your gun.
The constitution stops at my front door. You do not have the right to anything that the homeowner doesn't approve of in his home.
A mans home is his castle. Respect HIS rules, not yours.
I ask people if they would like me to take my shoes off when I come into their home.
Bill I believe it would be your wife's decision!!! LOL
(that's what you get for posting pics of the Misses)

The constitution stops at my front door. You do not have the right to anything that the homeowner doesn't approve of in his home. If somebody wants to start holding up anti-abortion signs in my driveway I have a right to kick them out. You're not burning a flag on my property either. Screw your first amendment rights to do so.
A mans home is his castle. Respect HIS rules, not yours. So if some whack job Neo-Nazi does not want me in his home because I have black friends, then that's fine. It's HIS house.
At the very LEAST, anybody carrying should have the decency to inform the homeowner that they are. Wasn't there a thread on here not long ago about leaving a gun in a bathroom when you left it? So my 10 year old can stumble upon your gun that you forgot to put back on when you dropped a deuce? No thanks. What the hell ever happened to respecting private property? I ask people if they would like me to take my shoes off when I come into their home.
I have a friend that is a old school retired cop. He believes he should be able to carry. But sometimes / most the time, not sure that others should.
I concede your points about private property, and I even support property rights as being most important. My point is this: now that we both agree that you have a right to decide who comes in your home, this particular situation is a great litmus test for whether your truly believe in freedom for other Americans and not just yourself. There is no difference, either conceptual or practical, between trusting an Armed American at the mall near your family or on your own property. Either the lady is trustworthy with her gun, or she isn't. Either you believe Americans should be allowed to carry or you don't. And if the answer is 'not in my home', which you have every right to say, then it reveals that you really don't want other Americans armed anywhere, it's just that the only place you have a right to enforce your beliefs is your own home. This is why it's a great litmus test for whether someone really truly values freedom and rights not just for oneself, but for all.
This is what being internally consistent with ones views entails.
I'm not too worried about the pistol packing chick. The forty drunks in my home, however, would be a problem.
I'm a home inspector. I go into different homes and meet new clients daily. I do NOT carry a firearm into peoples' homes. (if the situation is that bad, I cancel, and leave). My pistol stays locked in the truck. Seems like good manners to me.
The bartender is hired to mix and serve drinks, not provide security. If she gets bad vibes she should do what I do: leave.
And when a contractor/service person or anyone else who is not a personal, invited acquaintance comes to my home they leave their guns outside. Again, good manners.
Friends are another story; bring 'em if you got 'em.
