Average age here

46 years old.
started in the 1980s with Ruger stainless revolvers and blue steel autos....

Airborne Infantry training got me into "tactical" weapons....
serving in Iraq got me tired of "tactical" weapons...

Back where I began, with 4 revolvers and no plastic.
(S&W 66-4/442-1/Ruger Vaquero 44 Spec/Ruger Bisley 357)

34, grew up down here in the South so guns and mudd have always been in my blood. Got my first .22LR semi (Winchester Model 190) when I was 7. It was handed down from my great grandfather. Believe it or not, i still have it and I still plink with it from time. Its mostly used for hunting racoons at my camp.

I have come to realize though......The older I get, the better I was.

54' today, woo hoo!
Celebrated by building me a little reloading bench
out in the garage for my new Lee Classic Cast breech
lock press I picked up yesterday, lots of other gear to
get before I get started.

Nothing but revolvers for me any more, all in 38/357*
Assorted K & J frames' and a few nice rugers.

.. My first six guns back in 1960'

Turned 54 last month. Most of my filters are broken so sugar coating stuff is a real chore for me.

I kind of like pistols for carry and revolvers at the range or in the woods. But that's not an absolute. As a lefty I find semi-autos to be somewhat more ambidextrous.

Let see I remember listening to the radio till we got a B&W TV, things were simpler back then heck as a kid I could walk down the road carrying a rifle and nobody thought twice about it so I guess I’m 64 and like steel and plastic especial WWll weapons guess that why I got a C&R but now they are getting harder to get reasonably priced. German firearm my favorite can't beat a K98 Germans know how to make things just too complicated.

I'm 66 and prefer traditional firearms. Do have one Glock 19 because it was my duty sidearm at one time. All but one of my long guns are blue steel and wood. Have one AR just cuz I can and one Colt 1911 which every self-respecting gun guy should have at least one of. All my S&W revolvers are 1981 or older and my favorite is my 4 inch 66-1 which was my all-time best duty handgun for a bunch of years.

Many of you remember

Navy96, Brian , I hope you do not take offense at us older farts using the term plastic. It is merely an easy way of lumping alot of modern style guns together. I actually own quite a few myself. Now, if you must know, On this forum you can own plastic pistols and not be made fun of {we that own pony pistols and revolvers keep quiet about them out of respect to the other members however} and will always be welcome. All my best, Joe.

Remember when the word 'plastic' was synonymous with the words "going to break real soon"?? These days a better description is "Tough as ****" Even the plastic they use in mere PACKAGING now is darn nigh indestructible.

Well it's nice to know that i have time to wait some of you out on getting your guns.. lol

46 here..

I'm 71. And I've been into guns for about 60 of those years. I remember my Dad carrying me on his shoulders to the duck blind because I was too little to wade the river channel. I still have the little single shot .410 he got for me to hunt pheasants and the .22 Marlin (a dreaded semi-automatic) to hunt rabbits. I don't hunt anymore but still enjoy shooting and particularly handguns.

Soon to be 52 and feel 42. (sometimes)

I think it's like a lot of things in life. Younger people tend to like newer technology and then stay with it throughout their lives. Not all people, but a majority I'd estimate. So while there are older gentlemen spouting the greatness of the older pistols and rifles there are people who enjoy the newer (plastic if I must say it) guns.

When I started my gun enjoyment a few years ago I started off with plastic ones because thats what was in the showcase and the salesguy pulled out and told me was all the rage. Berettas, 92FS and PX4 Storm and a M&P40. I've since found my true love, older S&W revolvers and 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen semis.

Don't be offended by people extolling the greatness of their favs, just remember thats why gun manufacturers make so many different models and styles. No one gun fits everyone's tastes and likes.

I thoroughly enjoy all the experience, anecdotes and laughs on this tread and was told to keep it going....so let me share.
I'm 52 and got into firearms late, been around some air rifles in my youth and made a living briefly spearfishing in the Caribbean and now my spear guns only get wet when I visit the Philippines.
I bought my first gun as a HD piece and never expected to be so taken with the sport and these wonderfully engineered things.I am now the proud owner of a 1979 27-2 with a 5 inch barrel and have my eyes on a 66 or 686 3 inch....
