Idiots with linear amplifiers ruined CB for me too wheelgun28.

"Skipland, skipland!! You are hearin' me all the way from the great Republic of Texas-Skipland, skipland- Republic of Texas!! " Then the idiot would start to sing songs about Texas.

Some of the local coal truckers " Bucket drivers" had amps in their trucks too. Those guys were the rudest, most foul mouthed, profane imbeciles to ever hold a mic.

I was Brand - X but I remember the North Branch nose picker and the Albino Wino. I had a Turner + 3 modulated desk mic. Seems like a lifetime ago -

I have one I put in my truck whenever I'm on a trip. It's a great way to avoid traffic tie-ups and can be pretty entertaining if you can get past the profanity. I've found some great local places to eat that way too. My dad started using them way back when you had to have a license and call letters. I still remember it...KKK4353.

"T-bone", still have four CBs, one in my truck, one in my Jeep, and a couple spares....

"You gotcha dat Tanglefoot right here, KCBA 2020, 'mon back"
I sold my mobile and base rigs for a set of headers for my '71 Nova SS back in like '79.
BTW, I miss the ride much more than the radios!

Coming back home one night from a day out in the desert, we were driving along that part of I-10 that parallels the border. A couple of guys on the other side were conversing in Spanish. I heard one rich East Texas accent say: "Well, I'll be....my Japanese radio is talking Spanish". I almost drove off the road.
