*&%$### coyotes got my dog

Sounds like you need an wolfhound. That'll take care of 'em.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. He'll be waiting be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Man I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I've got 2 mini schnauzers that treat me better than my real kids, sad but true. One thing about Montana tho, there's generally only 2 types of coyotes out here, quick ones and dead ones, and any I see I either smarten up or take out of the gene pool.

Don't give up on dogs tho, they like us no matter what, and as far as the coyotes go, it's time to go Ted Nugent on them, whack 'em and stack 'em.

Take care...

do you happen to live in a state that allows suppressed guns? an integral suppressed 10/22 is very quiet and would do out to 50-75 yds. as far as a clean kill on a coyote, if you wound one, the rest will finish it and have lunch. suitable ending i would say.

Lee, sorry to be so late to this. I am so sorry for your family and Dude. You all will be in my prayers.

As to R.Walter, good riddance to bad trash.

Well at least this thread got rid of one type of vermin.

Now on to the coyotes....

Think vinyl covered cable, and a sharp No.2 treble hook baited with chicken fat and skin suspended 36" off the ground from a stout sapling. Works well and is quick. Usually gets results in a matter of days.

Nasty but effective. No gunshots and missed opportunities. There are no survivors to learn the trick and get wise.

Brother?
Not TOOOOOO many dog lovers here, huh?
Get a new and a bigger one, than your breed of wild yodelers.
I might suggest a yote haunch stored in your freezer to dice into "treats" for the new fellow. Get him used to the flavor and he'll do his own S&D.

Everybody together now thinksend: (or what ever) get a nother dog. Get a nother dog. Get a nother dog. You cannot resist a doggy is calling you.

Hey buddy.

Sorry for your loss. If you need any help clearing some of'em out let me know. I'll be glad to come down and give you a hand.

Got a new (to me) Mini-14 that hasn't shot anything but paper and cans so far.

I'm having an ongoing fued with one dog. He's blond, so I think he's a mix. Since early June, he's accounted for 80+ fowl at my sisters and her neighbors. I've missed him twice, (.22 mag. open sights @125 yards). Next time, it'll be with my aught-six and accelerators. I WILL get him!

This is how a local sheep rancher handles the problem-sorry for your loss, and the poor quality pic.

I too would like to extend my sincere condolences for your loss. We do get attached to our pets, don't we.

(Glad I am late to the party and didn't have to read the rubbish; thanks for taking out the trash, Lee.)

This one was taken last week. Will try to take one in honor of Dude this weekend.

Senior Citizen,
VERY sorry to hear of this happening to Dude. Awful! :(

We had yotes in the yard/grove at 1 this morning howling away, but I never got a chance at them. I always worry about letting our GSP and lab out, as the yotes would easily gang up on one dog. Muffin will hardly leave the deck and immediately wants back in. Fritz is absolutely fearless.

Losing a pet is so sad and my heart goes out to you. I will be out after these predators this fall again. Giz usually has a challenge on the yotes and hope he lets me in. 1st one here is for Dude.

Sorry to hear about you dog Senior Citizen. I think the Indians had an expression along the lines of "their scalps will hang from my ridgepole tonight". That would be fitting retaliation for what those coyotes did.

Sorry to hear about the loss of a member of the family. A good firearm or a donkey will definitely take care of any coyote stupid enough to come onto your land.

You could always just get a Cane Corso. Those dogs can tear an entire pack of yotes to shreds before you could chamber a round. Well-muscled, agile, fast and loyal beyond belief.

XXXXXXX

ABSOLUTELY beautiful specimen of an animal. Wouldn't mind him slobbering all over the passenger window of my truck. But the wife and I are done with pets. Too much work to train them, too much trouble keeping the house clean behind them (hair), leaving them when you go out, and loosing them to some horrific accident/incident. Just not gonna put ourselves through that again.

But we will continue to love and admire them from a distance.

Thanks to all who have offered condolences and or bullets.

Traps are illegal, night hunting is illegal, of course poision is illegal. I think remote electronic callers are illegal in FL as well. I don't have city ordinances to worry about so shooting a gun isn't a problem. I will begin Monday moring to quietly dismantle the 3 packs that I know work my area.

Thanks again to all for your prayers and kind words,
Lee

You posted a pic of a wierewolf, right? Just joking. Googled that breed and they are beautiful. I'm guessing they have a healthy appetite....for most anything.

Sorry if we're getting into thread highjack territory.
