When I was practicing law, I represented law enforcement officers for 30 years in civil rights cases and wrongful death cases. As you can imagine, these incidents are emotionally and psychologically packed. Few people know what is going on in the minds of the officers following the incident. While defending these brave officers, I contacted the best experts I could on how to defend and deal with my officers. Dr. Alexis Artwohl was the best of the best. Although she had recently retired and no longer testified in cases she put me in contact with others that did. She also sent me a copy of her book: Deadly Force Encounters, Second Edition: Cops and Citizens Defending Themselves and Others Paperback by Alexis Artwohl Ph.D. (Author), Loren W. Christensen (Author). Every officer should have this book. Not only for themselves but to help deal with fellow officers involved in a deadly force encounter. In addition, every concealed carrying individual should also read this book. Know ahead of time what is going to happen so you are prepared (at least as much as possible). For others that may have read this book, please share your thoughts below.
