I am retired USAF and live near a USAF base and as such I occasionally visit their base exchange (for those not familiar, it is a "Walmart-like" store on the base).
This afternoon I was shopping for a few things and ended up at their gun counter. I asked for a couple of boxes of 9mm FMJ range ammo and to have the clerk ring up my purchases.
When I unloaded my hand cart onto the counter he informed me if I were buying ammo I could not also purchase the bottle of whiskey I had also selected.
I thought this was strange since I had purchased a firearm from them about a year ago and they also sold me ammo for the gun at the time of purchase... Truly a potentionally more "dangerous" combo of items than whiskey and ammo.
He said, "Yes you can buy a gun and ammo, but not alcohol and ammo."
Sometimes it makes me scratch my head and wonder what they are thinking when they attempt to protect us from ourselves.
