Take a look at this! This is really slick to say the least. Here's a solution many of our city planners should consider! It would seem that the initial and operating costs would be recovered in a manageable amount of time.

Why do we not hear about things like this? Why hasn't someone from the US thought of this?

I saw that or a very similar system in use in Amsterdam a few years ago and it is very neat and practical. Space is so restricted in most European cities that they take every advantage of every space saving technology. The only disadvantage I was was that it wasn't quite as convenient as conventional parking garages and I suspect it was more expensive, but it should catch on in the U.S. eventually.

Yeah, but it didn't show the part where the hot babe gets raped while putting her token in the machine.
A place like this would be a "playground" for car-jackers & rapists here in the states.

EXTREMELY Expensive. Won't happen in the South, except MAYBE Atlanta in a million years.

It's intended for a retrofit in an area where there is no where else to grow.

did you see some of the clearances in that vid .... forget your trucks and SUV's unless ya dig the idea of driving it as a convertable

I noticed the storage areas contained sprinkler systems. Good for containment but not total extinguishment. Doesn't look like much room to fight a car fire. If one caught on fire, and they do even after a period of being shut off, that could be one heck of a mess.

Geez, somebody comes up with a fabulously expensive and complicated idea, guaranteed to rip off mirrors and other parts, intended to be subsidized with OPM and all it gets is criticism. Picky, picky. Joe

if it takes 2 guys with shovels working, 5 guys on heavy equipment working, 2 flagmen, 4 supervisors, and 8 guys propped on shovels.(and all with one hand and ear stuck to a cellphone) to resurface less than a mile of road in a day. then how many will it take to build that monstrosity?

Boston has had underground parking for as long as I can remember...less the electronics. A big portion of the Boston Common/Public Gardens is sitting on a big parking lot.
