Gun Grievances: Things You Just Don't Like

The belief that a short barrel equals concealability. It's the size and width of the handgrip that determines concealability!

Any handgun in .25acp.

Most gun handling as shown on TV and in Movies.

Sheeple!

Antigunners who don't realize that the 2nd Amendment is in place solely to allow the people a good chance to overthrow the government when it is appropriate.

......... Big Cholla

The absolute lack of a decent fixed sight service type .38 revolver, in regular production! Smith has relegated the grand ole model 10 to the classic line:mad:.
The constant poohpoohing of the shotgun as a house gun! "Everybody needs an AR for HD." PLEASE!
OH, and the fact that if your pistol of choice doesn't hold 15+ rounds, has a rail on it with the popular light AND laser of the moment, is in someway polymer, that somehow your just not in the game!
And lastly "Tactical" who in the wide world of sports decided that your HD weapon had to be "tactical"?! HMMF?!!
I love these "rant" threads!:D

over armed can be annoying.
I'd rather have one gun .. the largest practical piece that can be carried.
now a dude trying to decide what to draw at go time is amusing to ponder ... I think the macarena would have a rebirth:D

for any carry piece I start my considerations with a 12 gauge pump. its rare that it ever makes the cut but represents the gun Im sure I want in my hands when I need a gun.
since it dont pack easy we work down till we have a fit.
Most of the time, that fit is achieved in a 1911 for me.
The other end of the spectrum are those who start small and stay there.
its at least equally annoying to know that so many waste body space on 22's 25's 32's and 380's while preaching this as holy writ.
its like they assume their adversary will be a sober and rational individual free of mental defect due to medical, emotional or chemical reasons.
if your adversary can be stopped with a 380 you probably didnt need to shoot him or her in the first place

Plastic guns or plastic parts on guns with the exception of some grips.

Pot metal guns.

Hunting rifles without iron sights.

Large bulky scopes on hunting rifles.

Lever action rifles with a scope.

The whole Scout Rifle concept.

Winchester 94s with AE and crossbolt safeties.

Anything labeled tactical.

Camo paint jobs

Scopes that need batteries.

New calibers that don't do anything the old calibers can't do, like all the WSSMs that will be obsolete in no time.

Bayonets on hand guns.

Kydex.

Warrior wannabees wearing camo, tactical gear, and guns at gunshows.

Our son is a Marine. Wow! After hearing his experiences, the level of training, and the family feel of the Corps, these wannabees are just contemptible.

Any short barreled, round butted N Frame. It shoots big bullets, it has a large diameter barrel, it has a big cylinder, it has a large frame. Why would you put a small round butt Ladies grip on it? Now if they made this same gun with a real square butt grip frame I am certain I would like it.

Because some of us have small hands. The X-frame revolver has a K-frame-sized grip. Does that bug you, too?

Question for all you square-butt types--If it's got a round butt, I can put round butt grips, OR you can put conversion grips on it that will convert it to a square butt. It seems like that would make both of us happy. I can't really make a square-butt revo any smaller.

Oh, and I dislike S&W target grips, too.

One last point I detest

Anyone insinuating that a curmudgeon (like myself) will spend money on a product if they make it the way the curmudgeon describes it...it just doesn't happen like that!

I usually wind up spending the money on something else that came along and completely forgot about or could care less about what I mentioned before- "I've slept since then."

Eh...must be that second "childhood" I've always heard about- does something to the attention span. ;)

Great thread!! Here are a couple that I haven't seen yet:

The tacticool guys that go out and spend good money on a carry firearm then buy a 15 Uncle Mike's holster to carry said firearm in...then wonder why it fell out when they leaned over at Walmart.

The OC vs CC debate, I really get tired of this one. I've never heard one good reason to OC other than they are lacking in certain parts of their anatomy.

Advice to someone that is new to the sport that is ernestly wanting to learn to shoot and/or protect themselves that the only firearm they will ever be safe with it the latest wizbang 1911 or tupperware pistol. As we all know autoloaders take training, lots of it to be proficent. Then we wonder why we heard about someone at the local restaurant that blew up the toilet when they pulled their pants up. Learn to shoot on a wheel gun.

The term sheeple, this usually will be linked in with post from the other groups above. Not everyone has the same hobbies, I'm sure they have an equally disrespective acronym for those of use that enjoy firearms.

This one has already been listed, but those damn CCW badges. There was recently a post on this forum when the poster showed a picture of a holstered 1911 with one of those badges and stated I'm a semi retired security gaurd...it's a real badge!

That's it for now...

Cheers,
Sam

How about great guns w/ nice engraving but poor-fitting grips?;)
Internal Safeties... we may argue other points but I bet NO ONE likes these! S&W's IS are the UGLIEST!

Duh!!! They are made that way so that when you bash the "bad guy" with the butt of your revolver you don't crack your pearl grips!! Geeze! Some people..... ; )

"15. Guns that have no real reason to exist."

For me this would include:

The Taurus Judge line of revolvers and now the Circuit Judge revolving carbine.

The Rossi Ranch Hand and similar lever action mare's leg "pistols."

Thompson Center Contenders (a clever design and very popular-I just never knew why). Also includes other single shot "hunting" pistols such as the Remington XP 100. All seem clumsy rifles with something missing.

The whole modern inline muzzle loader thing which strays too far from the original spirit and intent of black powder in my view.

Mini .22 revolvers.

"Gun ads that feature girls wearing nothing but the gun and a skimpy outfit."

I've seen one company, probably the one you are referring to. Three or four pages in a row. Check out their brochure next time you're in a gun shop. The cover has the girl holding the pistol near her head, with her booger hook on the bang button.

Too many, many, did I say many new models introduced. For what they want for some of these guns, one would expect factory support and parts be available in 10 years. A lot of these newly introduced guns appear to be directed toward a younger inexperienced market.

Badkarma1- The 64-8 is still a regular production gun, my dealer can get me one for $520 when I checked 2 weeks ago:)

Goes along with my other "pet peeve", people who think fixed-sight 4" .38 revolvers are "useless",old fashioned, or obsolete, or not accurate. I've got plenty of 10's and 64's that would say otherwise:D Also related to that, those idiots who think "If you own a revolver it better say .357 or .44 Magnum on the barrel" and ".38 revolvers are for women and old men" I HATE these people that say this crap, they're usually the same ones who carry some plastic piece of crap .40 but think it's a waste to own a .38.

Also, I must apologize since I'm about to offend many people, but I strongly dislike any alloy frame "Airweight" revolvers......do we really need .357 revolvers that weigh less than a fruitfly and also more people who complain that their ultra-light snubs kick too hard with Magnums? What happened to the days when guys carried a 2" Model 10 and didn't think anything about it, now we need carry guns that weigh .5 ounces......

You are right on!

Also, what about those goofy things that you strap on to a 1911 frame and turn it into some kind of carbine....or a .50 BMG?

That stuff is goofy!
