Hoplophobia: is it really a word?

It appears that we are in the stages of formalizing the use of this word. If it was coined in 1962, then the use for over 50 years proves it is not a fad. The usage by the people in this discussion alone also proves it is not of a local dialect. A question I have concerns the inclusion of weapons besides firearms within this word, is the fear of knives, arrows, spears, hand grenades, aerial bombs and / or missiles included within this fear. The future Non-profit organizations for the "Prevention of" may have to share funds. We all know that will cause mush consternation in the future, and by our kind nature we need at least a little clarity. We wouldn't want someone treated for the fear of switch-blades treated by a specialist in the fear of nuclear weapons. Ivan
