How much your CCW Permit cost?

In WA state we're a "Shall Issue" state. If you have no criminal history you get your permit. $55 good for 5 years. $32 to renew.

Wisconsin - better late than never

I'm very pleased that Wisconsin finally made concealed carry available. I just wish they would have considered reciprocity. In 2011, when the law was enacted, there were all kinds of howling about the training requirement. Many folks wanted as little as possible. My guess is our training causes the reciprocity issues. I frequently travel in Minnesota, had to get Utah permit.
I also went for Florida while I was at it.

$100 CCW Class (WI, FL, UT)
50 Wisconsin Fee
25 Live fire certification (FL+UT)
20 Finger Prints @ PD (FL+UT)
117 Florida Fee
65 Utah Fee
------
377

I mean the initial expense, not the renewal...

In CA renewals are about $75 every 2 year. But I was wondering if the initial CCW fees in other states are similar or not?

No that is it

It is the same to renew

MO: $75 for the course, $100 for the permit (3 years).

CT: I've had one there for a very long time. Renewals jumped from $35 to $75, 5 year term.

NH: Had to get one as Mom lives there and they didn't have reciprocity with where I was living. It was $100 for non-residents (issued by the Staties), good for 4 years. I think the in-state charge is $10, from the local cops, and I've been told that some departments won't charge.

PA: Have one there, but apparently they're not doing renewals by mail anymore, so when it expires, ecch. It was $25. The nice thing about PA was that it had a lot of reciprocity, but I've heard that the state AG is abrogating those agreements, so it may be as useful as a NY permit.

Here in Pa.--$20.00 cash
My Utah was about $150 with a renewal of $15.00 every 5 years
My Arizona was $60.00 for 5 years.

Why has no one mentioned this, yet?

My Texas drivers license costs $5.00 and is good for six years and honored in every other state and most foreign countries.

My Texas concealed handgun license is $300 or more and good for four years and is only honored in about thirty states.

I thought driving was a privilege and bearing arms a right. Where have we gone wrong?

Here's an idea - charge $5.00 for the license - it appears to be manufactured on the same equipment which prints the drivers licenses - and require me to spend $100 each year on range fees and ammo. Let's cut out this chicken stuff they call training, but is really a tax.

Do a lot of states not have lifetime permits?

Currently in the state of Tennessee the costs are as follows;

  1. Take class from approved state class 65 - 110 dollars
  2. Submit application to Department of Safety with fee of 115 dollars
Wait for up to 90 days for permit ( mine took 3 1/2 weeks). Permit good for 4 years then $50 for renewal of permit!

So as little as 180 dollars plus ammunition and other expenses like gasoline to and fro to as much as 225 dollars and you got it!

$3050, if you include the Police Academy training I used to satisfy the training requirement. LOL
$50 just for the permit it self

In Alaska:

12 Hour CCW Course, Picture, Finger Prints, & Range Fees:
$110.00

File Paperwork & Certificate W/ State Troopers Office:
$91.25

Wait 2 Weeks & Get Permit In The Mail & Good For 5 Years.

If you want a CWP in Arizona the initial cost is:

Concealed Weapons Permit Unit Fee Schedule
New Concealed Weapons Permit $60.00
Concealed Weapons Permit Renewal $43.00
Replacement Permit (lost, stolen or name change) $10.00
LEOSA Certification $20.00
LEOSA Instructor Certification No Charge

Requirements are:

But keep in mind in Arizona no permit is needed to carry.

Just went apply for mine today. Here's the break down.
$30 app fee
$45 fingerprinting & background check.

good for 5 years. renewal is the same price and process.

prices goes up starting March 1, 2013. Looks like I went just in time.

The OP having to pay over $500... that's insane. Here in NC I think it depends on the county. Smaller counties = lesser fee cost. Since I live in a big county (Charlotte, Mecklenburg co.) I paid around $90 for the CCW class (which is required) and then for the sheriff's office to fingerprint and file the permit it was $80. But they charged me an extra $10 for some reason. Told me the fingerprinting is now extra. Mine took about 3 months to come in... that was a few years ago. Good for 5 yrs.

About $79 in my county in Georgia for a 5-year permit. Each county charges similar fees but they can vary a little. Only requirement is an application and background check. Very straightforward process and I had mine within two weeks.

Wow i guess i got it good here in Indiana fellas.
75 bucks for a "Lifetime" carry permit.
And that's it, no courses needed.
Took me 2 weeks to get mine back from the ISP
