Ice Cream

All this talk about ice cream makes me think about my Dad. He was in the Army Infantry and fought in France, Italy, Austria and finally Germany. On the day uf cease fire he got bivouacked in some fancy castle-like house. He and some friends went on a mission and appropriated all the ice cream they could find. He ended up eating so much so fast that he lowered his core body temperature and got sick as a dog.

My favorite is 3 scoops. Chocolate, butter pecan and raspberry. The apple didn't fall too far from the tree.

I like most all ice cream but last evening my wife insisted we try the new Cold Stone Creamery that recently opened. Very ordinary. I ordered a chocolate sundae - they don't make them. Most of what they had were gimmick candy concoctions catering to kids. I went with a vanilla waffle cone and the cone was burnt tasting and the ice cream was almost as good as Bryer's. If they make it 6 months I'll be surprised.
Be surprised then, they have been in business since 1988. (This is not an endorsement!)

This thread just reminded me of an old-timey soda fountain/ice cream shop/restaurant I used to go to when I was a child, called Farrell's. usually it was for a float, but I remember one time in 6th grade, I believe, when a few friends and I went there and chipped in for The Volcano, 30 scoops of ice cream covered in hot fudge.

When I was about 20, one Friday night I ordered and ate a "Hot Fudge Kilimanjaro", 24 scoops of ice cream and of course Hot Fudge and whipped cream. I got them to make it with Coffee flavored Ice Cream. I didn't eat on Saturday or most of Sunday!

I could go for a smaller version right now!

If it was coffee ice cream I'd split one with you.

JR can hear it coming from the next zipcode.

10-4 on the Ice Cream Truck music.
We have that comes down near every night
during the summer.
All the beach renters surround him.

About two weeks ago we here him coming.
Wife says go buy us a couple Ice Cream sandwiches...one for now one later.
Cool..will do.
Tell the dude 4 ice cream sandwiches.
He hands them over....
"That will be $14.00".
I wanted to snatch him outta the little window.
That would have bought 3 gallons of Blue-Bell.

I enjoy just about every flavor of ice cream. However, one of the most unusual was Creamed Corn Ice Cream...... Believe it or not, it's amazing!!

I may get blasted for this, but I can't stand any ice cream with mint in it, especially if it's mint and chocolate, i.e. mint chocolate chip. For some reason, the combination of mint and chocolate is just completely unpalatable to me.

The most expensive ice cream

My wife, the Michigan girl she is, must travel from our home in Florida to her hometown of Decatur, Michigan, every summer, just for a big scoop of "SUPERMAN" ice cream.

In my book that makes "SUPERMAN" the expensive ice cream in the land.

She tells me it is a Michigan thing.
